  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ALERT! V1.55 New Features:

* More edgecode support.
* Preliminary Qmaster support.
* Support for curves on transcoded output.
 
With updating to 1.5.5 i now got a problem with the curves.

When i open a clip and select "Metadata" the Curves get screwed up so that it ends in an complete black image.

Here's a screenshot:

Thanks. We're looking into it.

For now, hit 'R' on the curve display to reset back to the default.
 
my redcode clips show the bottom half of the image garbled, all green and blocky. They dont in redcine, but I can't export more than the first frame from Redcine either.

ok, I'm new to this whole mac thing (had it 9 hours). right, off to the redcine thread to see why i cant get more than 1 frame.

PS. How the hell do i uninstall redalert? I tried to install an older version but it wouldn't let me, saying a newer one was on the drive. I ditched the application to the trash and it still wouldn't let me install an older version, saying a new one was detected; are there some other files somewhere I need to trash?
 
remove the redalert file in /library/receipts on the system drive.
 
New RedAlert and RedLine v1.56 is on the support page now.

Metadata bug fixed.

When are we going to have the ability to use other codecs, such as CF 4K? I think that the options that we have now are limiting workfows that have been developed and are working fine. Please, advise.:excl:

Hi Red Team,

Just a small question,
In RED ALERT I like to make new QT's, I do a small grade in rec709 REDALERT then make new QT's so I can drop into my finalcut projects a grade thats close to were I want to end up.
But why does the proxie QT's look nothing like the RED ALERT preview. Either in Log, rec709, etc etc.

I have tried all settings and cant seem to get any of new QT's close to looking like the RED ALERT screen previews.
Its not killing me, but it is a super fast way to work and output out of FCP in 10bit compared to rendering in REDCINE.
I only go into REDCINE if I have stuffed up a shots exposure then output and drop new the new file back into FCP project.

The password protection is a mistake. We'll get it fixed.

What the quicktime codec can currently do is limited to only some of
the controls affect the QT wrappers. This will change soon but for now, these are what can be changed:

Changeable:
ISO
Exposure
Contrast
Brightness
Kelvin
Tint
Saturation
Red
Green
Blue

Fixed Settings:
Gamma: Rec709
Colorspace: CameraRGB

Id never get advice this quick out of ARRI, ATLAB, KODAK, etc...
