This is the DP's cut of a three spot campaign shot on RED in December here in Houston. The camera was a rental from MP&E out of Dallas. We rented 2 cameras from them for a shoot in January as well. I'll post a "trailer" from that shoot soon.

Spot looks really nice. One question- on the kitchen shot, was there an overlay placed above the stove in post? Something seems odd there? Maybe it's just me... I do need some sleep.

Nice work all in all.

Great spot!

What post work flow did you use? Type of lens?

Nice work all in all.

We shot for 4:3 and later talked the client into 16:9 so there were a few scenes where we had some undesirable elements that had to be removed, or in the case of that shot, covered. We cloned the pots hanging in the background to hide an open door.

me too I'm wondering what lenses did you use?

and what material did you use for post-production?

great job by the way.

We used a Zeiss prime package - I think the widest was a 18mm.

We used the recommended post workflow from this forum. We edited 1k proxies in FCP and ran all the shots through RedCine for a "best light". Then re-linked in FCP and sent to color. Then composited and tweaked in After Effects. Then back to FCP and linked to final audio for output. These were all SD for broadcast.

Very nice. I think the one night city exterior is a little dark but everything else I really liked.

I'm interested in how you go about planning a shoot like this. Are you matching storyboards? More specifically is the design (type layout) already planned or do you decide on set? :construction:

Thanks,

Matt

... nice

These spots were pretty low budget, so we had scripts and a "look" in mind, but no time or money for storyboards. Most of our prepro time was spent scouting all the locations. We ran in circles with our client and their client over what was available and permissible. Our location scout on this job really earned his paycheck. In the end we had to make the locations we had available look as good as we could.
As far as type design, we shot with a lot of negative space because the text treatment and the copy was constantly changing. What you are seeing is OUR favorite version for the demo reel.
We got kinda lucky with the clouds on a few urban shots, but I can't wait until I have my own camera and and can pick the best weather. I really want to try and get some cool city shots.

Just a few more weeks : )

Very nice!

Wow Dylan, I just saw your reel - beautiful work.
Is RED going to fit into your world? Are your clients interested in going digital?

Very nice! The text was a little bit ghetto, but the images were perfect.
