  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I predict a price increase for the camera body in 3...2...1...

I think raising the price of RED once all the bugs are worked out makes a lot of sense. Right now purchasers are taking a risk and should be able to buy at a discount.

I would expect the price to go up towards the end of the line. The early res holders will be getting a great deal compared to anyone waiting till later this year.

Back to the IRS rebate issue. I talked to my tax agent, and she explained that it's not a handout, it's just a forward on your 2008 tax returns.

So all those complaints about who gets handouts and who doesn't? null and void, no one is getting handouts, the govt is just loaning people their own damned money.

Oh... and whatever illusion of what's left of this economy is based on a 3 trillion dollar credit card purchase that has infused this economy with money that wouldn't be there without it. The Chinese have bankrolled it and your grandchildren will pay it back.

Ya know when you're 23 and you go out and buy stuff with your first credit card? You feel rich. Same with America right now... and the sad thing is consumer confidence is at the lowest in 15 years. And that's DURING an artificially inflated economy.

Bush is building China, not the U.S.

Hey Joel, sorry I baited you into this. It just sounded like you were bored waiting on new REDs to ship out, so I thought I would gig you a bit. I guess I would be a little more concerned, the same as you, if I hadn't seen Reagan spend us out of trouble after the Carter years. I give all credit to G.H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton for rounding us back into shape following Reagan.

You are probably too young to remember, but back in '01 this country was attacked here on the mainland. The attackers were hoping to wreck our economy and the only way to overcome the fear that was sweeping the country was to create a boom in the economy and try to make the area of the world where the fear source was emanating from a more hopeful, thus a less angry, place.

George W. Bush didn't come into office hoping to spend us into debt nor even to wage war against Saddam Hussein... AFAIK. He's not very popular among his base or the loyal opposition for doing these things, but he accepted that he would be vilified and even conceded that he might lose the second term election if he stayed true to his convictions. Made a lot of mistakes? Dambetcha! But is it too early to tell which decisions are the mistakes and which ones are the triumphs? IMO, yes.

Barack Obama chides Hillary for voting to go to war with Iraq, calling it a mistake. That is I think, an untrue statement because we do not know what would have transpired if we had not.

Is it the reason we have not had another attack on home soil? If it is, to me that is no mistake. Or has it punctured the cloak of invincibility that seemed to fit Al Quaeda's shoulders very well in the early years? If it has, then confronting Saddam Hussein and later seeing Iraqis reject Al Quaeda has not been a mistake.

But I am not here to praise nor bury George W. Bush... I am here to voice my concern that Barack Obama would be doing OJT as President, and in these times we need someone who already knows what the job entails and will have the strength of character to see it through. Hillary fills that bill for me. If not her, then John McCain. They both can lead us through tough times. Granted, they won't win American Idol like Obama, but they can win where it counts. In the real world.

This brings me to the real point of my post... that in the real world, I am convinced that by holding doun the price of the RED one camera, the RED One Digital Cinema Camera Company (or whatever it's called) will finally bring world peace. Everywhere except on this forum. PEACE IS FOREVER BANNED ON REDUSER.NET!!

Actually, it's more like a loan from CHINA! That's right, we are going to borrow the money from China. Therefore making them richer and making the national bigger! I don't know why we keep trying to fix the problem instead of the cause.

In other news, the House approved a bill today to rollback $18 billion in tax breaks for oil companies. Do people not see through this? If oil companies are charged $18 billion more in taxes, who do you think is going to pay that? Us at the oil pumps! It's just like any other business tax--it's passed onto consumers who buy the products.

Don't buy the lie that by taxing businesses, you the private citizen are getting lower taxes. You just don't realize how much hidden/embedded taxes you are paying every time you buy something at the store. It's just politicians (both sides) way of saying, "hey look, I'm hurting the big bad business while lowering your taxes." Yeah right, I know your game.

Joel, he's the CEO of a 3 trillion dollar economy, CinCAFWorld (commander-in-chief of American forces worldwide) has a higher IQ than John Kerry (and probably you and I as well... check his military testing records) has floun into the face of danger (Iraq, twice and South America as well), has raised two daughters, and you are disrespectful of the man's ox?

Yes, he's in politics and as one of the little people you can insult him and he will defend your right to do so. But you know that or you wouldn't challenge and old-timer who can very likely clean your clock in short order.

But when you go calling a man's ox a moron, well, if I'm on the jury of his trial I say it was justifiable ass whipping, if he should decide to administer that to you.

Oh, that reminds me... how many times has Hillary been to Iraq as opposed to Obama? Maybe that's why Obama wants the troops home, so if he's elected President he won't have to risk his life going there. Maybe that's why he will always be willing to negotiate everything. Just keep backing up slowly and let the next President after him clean up the mess, like Jimmy Carter did.

Oh, and I predict the RED will hold its value better than any other commodity, as Davis proposed, even through 4 oBAMa years.

Are you talking about the same "snort another line of the lady's back while I down my drink and call the commander at the base and tell him I'm too loaded to fly my national guard plane around the state instead of in vietnam and shit I hate military records and reports" guy that I think you're talking about?

I agree with everyone's posting on the state of the economy. Although things are a little different up here, we're still all in the same waters. The way out, for Americans as well as Canadians, is to REFUSE to buy goods made overseas by foreign companies, and to support local economies....from your local farmers' markets, to your independant gas stations, to your independant restaurants and coffee shops, your independant retailers, to the last few people still making furniture locally and the independant hardware store and mechanic. It'll cost you a little more money sometimes, and sometimes a little less money. But at the end of every day, you're supporting the people and families in your communities, and that will play a part in making sustainable economic change, and a quality of life that will survive the hardships that lie ahead. Forging good community spirit for the purposes of sticking together when things get difficult is important. So is not supporting the likes of McDonalds and Starbucks. To hell with WalMart. These companies don't give a shit about you, and contribute nothing to a sustainable local economy. It's time for all of us to change our behaviour patterns, and recognize the value of our fellow citizens.....alright I feel like I'm sermonizing and I'm really not trying to do that, just stating my opinion emphatically:sorcerer:

I would love to, but HOW?! There are some items that you simply cannot find made in the US! I can't find a toothbrush that is made in the US (scary since I put it in my mouth and China seems to put lead in many items!), and I can't find an electric heater made in the US (just two items I've shopped for recently.) The sad part is, even if you do support local businesses, they often had to buy items made overseas to run their business! The funny thing is, I find items all the time that I am surprised to see WERE made in the US (I wish I could think of some right now but my mind is blanking.)

Yeah, that's the one.

Hi,

The cost of computer components have fallen sharply since the Red one was announced 18 months ago. The next price will be lower IMO.

The government is spending (borrowed) money to give me back my own money. I wonder how much they are spending to hand me a check for $600 that was mine in the first place. Morons. This is a good example of why we need less government involvement in our lives. Here's an idea, you want to give us more money to spend to help stimulate the economy?? Try lowering our taxes, maybe even if it means you have to cut a program here or there.

And no, I don't think Red will jump the price on the Red One to $25,000 next year. They're developing new products to sell. Maybe these wont be so ridiculously cheap.

Well, let's see... If W. hadn't gone to Iraq :

- America would have had at least $1 TRILLION to spend on other important stuff.
(Read this article, very informative : http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/17/business/17leonhardt.html?_r=1&ei=5090&oref=slogin )
You could do a lot with $1 trillion. (like Health care, education, security, lower taxes, etc...)

- 4000 US soldiers would still be alive (not to mention all those who wouldn't be permanently injured).
Hey, that's even more casualties than on 9/11...

- 100.000 Iraq civilian people would not be dead.
But they were all terrorists, right ? They were all hiding weapons af mass destruction in the back of their garden, weren't they ?
Oh wait, there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, this was just a lie... Even the experts confirmed there couldn't find any WMD in Iraq.

Osama must be happy, he got exactly what he wanted.
He got America to spend Trillions of dollars to fight him (without success), there are more terrorist attacks now than before this war, a lot of people in the middle-east hate America even more than before, and people in America still fear potential terrorist attacks on their country...

Yes, the war in Iraq really made a difference.

Thanks W. !

Nils.

PS : Did you hear about Apples new product ? It's called the "iRack" and it's awesome !

Consider this: Osama was trained and financed by the CIA in the 80's. You know what they say: once you're in the CIA, you're always in the CIA. Second, they're telling us that they can't find the tallest muslim on the planet, when satellites can read the license plates on cars? Third, if he isn't in league with the CIA in the "war on terror" which, btw, is nothing more than a war on the people, and a war on the desire for unity amongst all common people of the planet, then Osama Bin Laden is nothing more than the new Lee Harvey Oswald/Sirhan Sirhan, a patsy for the naked ambition of the U.S. military/industrial corporate strategy of world domination of resources. We're being played, people, and it's time to start changing the game.
Refuse to believe in fear. Refuse to believe that war is the answer to anything. Do not believe that "America is under Attack". It is not. Neither is Canada. Refuse to relinquish your civil rights. Refuse to believe what the media tells you. There are two sides to every story. Although this is but one of many sources of information, and take it as you will, this is an interesting movie...

Osama must not be killed!!! Jesus Christ and JFK would not have been nearly as popular as they are today if they had died of old age. Look at Methuselah, he is purported to have lived more than 800 years. THIS is who people of all faiths should be worshiping, and LBJ actually got a TREMENDOUS amount of change done that we are enjoying now, but Democrats worship JFK instead.

As for the rest of your post... a bit myopic for me. Find someone with coke bottle glasses to respond.

Skip that - I vote for them to borrow a little more to give a $25K voucher to those that are registered on REDUSER as of Feb 28, redeemable only at the REDUSER store!!"

As far as worship goes, I think that religion has manipulated and twisted us as people. No need to worship anything, all that is needed is respect for the planet that gave us life.
If you read what LBJ did after JFK died, you'd see that he was helpful in creating the mess ie. the continuation of the industrial/military complex that seems to rule the American, and to a small degree, the Canadian way of life. JFK was ready to take apart the CIA and deescalate Vietnam, and LBJ did the opposite. Didn't see many smiles at that time, and it still plays with the American psyche.
Interesting link to a price increase on the Red, as Bush has borrowed heavily to fight in Iraq, and run a string of deficit budgets, thereby devaluing the greenback....everything is connected.
number6, i'd be curious as to your take on zeitgeistmovie

Haven't seen the movie or tried your link, yet. That criminal bush hasn't given me my unearned rebate :greedy: so I have atherosclerotic internet service. Took forever to dounload the link to Torrey's "Sensored" movie.

edit: thought I would add that you may be a little too hard on the religious. I feel we must take into account that one size does not fit all, and while I basically agree with your "No need to worship anything" line, if we all believed that way then there would be no need to make movies. It would just be the same old re-run because we would be nothing diverse to make movies about.

Well the elites are going to get what the elites pay for and they pay for the best candidates who infect people with hope every 4 years.

It is a fallacy that "we" lost in Iraq because the truth is this administration wanted to crush the people of Iraq and that is exactly what has occurred. This is all part of a global game of chess and you rarely hear high profile people talk about it openly because if the average potato head still does not "get it" they never will. What is the point in risking your own livelihood and reputation in trying to educate people who don't care enough about their world to seek any sort of truth?

People tend to (not always) get what they deserve so whatever sadness or guilt I used to feel has now turned into total contempt for the average joe (well not 100% but I am getting there)

Evolve, of course if you are talking the way you are then you are without a doubt in the top 2% but what exactly is getting outraged going to do for you, your family, and your countrymen? No offence, but greater men with influence have came before you and they each paid a huge price. Nothing changed then and nothing will change just because you have figured out that the vast majority of people live their lives accepting the lies their leaders spoon feed them on a daily basis.

I suggest you take a step back and try to discover what the end goals of the plan really are, because there is in fact a plan and that plan is unfolding regardless if Obama or Mcain take the helm next, and regardless if people make up little internet movies exposing this or that.

The 20th century was bloody with 100 million+ "innocent" people butchered. But how innocent were they really if they just sat back and allowed people in other countries to be wiped out while they lived in relative comfort? At some point the common person needs to take responsibility for his/her own destiny or they are every bit as guilty as the people they love to demonize.

I mean, Iraq is being wiped out. This is 2008 and many people consider this era of human history to be somehow more civilized than "the dark ages". People around the world love to point fingers at Americans and say we are the problem but what are THEY doing about the problem other than pointing fingers? Tony Blair stayed in office! And this is after millions of Brits protested baby Bush when he visited their country and after they freaked out that the potato heads in the red states actually wanted him for another 4 years.(yes I do understand the Blair was not directly elected by the people but still)

So here are the Americans crying about their economy, losing their houses, not being able to buy that new 50 inch plasma. Damn them I say. What the hell are they doing while their own government is using THEIR tax dollars to make some (and planning many more) of the biggest power grabs in history and at the expense of millions of innocent men, women and children? Absolutely nothing (95% of them).

So whatever pain is on its way economically or otherwise for the USA public is exactly what they deserve. You can't sit by and have backyard cookouts, tying yellow ribbons on trees, and living blindly while a group of elites are dividing the world amongst themselves and expect anyone to feel sorry for you because you lost your 4 bedroom house with a pool in the middle of a desert that you had no business buying in the first place.

Of course the average European is brighter, more educated, and more aware of the world around them but this is just to a degree. IMO the average European is even more guilty because if they are in fact "more aware" they should realize that many of their leaders care more about OTHER LEADERS than about the public in their own country. The "leaders" certainly have much more in common with each other than they do with most of the people they claim to represent.

Absolutely nothing is going to get better until there exists a majority of people roaming this earth who share a common consciousness. A consciousness where the common person no longer holds onto the fear, gullibility, lies, and selfishness of the past. In essence, people need to "evolve". Humans need to evolve to the point where they don't kill tigers and grind up their penises for mixing with green tea to achieve magical sexual powers, eating dead processed food while washing down a Zoloft with a Coca Cola and then wondering why they feel and look like shit, sending their hard earned money to some religious leader on TV who wears more bling than most hip hop stars, and trusting a news network that plasters images of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton in their headlines while ignoring millions of starving people around the world. You can count on things getting a lot more painful before this happens.

So to sum up my advice to you Evolve, is to use your RED camera to create content which raises consciousness, and to help bring together people who share this common counsciousness. Do this with every ounce of intensity you can muster. Perhaps someone will recognize your value and reach out to you with a spot on the lifeboat. You have no guarantee, but the people who refuse to evolve certainly won't be getting a spot because they simply do not deserve one.

Oh, and I don't think this post should be deleted because I tried to offend everyone equally. :weight_lift:
