Hey all,
So im getting my feet wet! Im shooting my first project on the RED starting this weekend and I have a question regarding workflow. Our editor wants to cut in FCP and I want to finish out in Scratch. So here is my idea. Shoot the footage in 4k 2:1 - drop the proxy files directly into FCP at the 1k res. Then once we have a cut, output an EDL or XML and take the files over to scratch. From there do a conform which will refrence the .r3d files and bring in my timeline for the footage, do all my color work and export out to whatever media I want. Does this sound right to all of you? Am I missing something here? Any advice?

Workflow question from FCP to scratch

Eric,

The work flow you just described is exactly the what you should go. Now there are other workflows but, they will take you longer and cost more money. Aside from going the fcp way you can go directly into scratch and do your offline if you want. Scratch does have editing capabilities such as auto scene detection and you can add dissolves and export an quicktime reference with burn in tc. As well as exporting to a edl or xml. This will save you a step as scratch can read r3d files directly out of the Red camera.

Hope this answered some questions.

Hello,
I just have a simple question:
I'm an editor, i work in fcp and i have some material shooted on red in 4k 2:1. I can't import it in fcp normaly, half of image is not recongnized.
I'm not so shure why?
Please if someone can help me. I tried with upgades and things but it did't worked.

Sounds like your shots are 4K 16:9 which FCP / QT and Redalert don't work with at the moment. Update is coming soon... I hope, all my footage is the same.
