I wonder if anybody has taken one to a plane or something. My preference would be an imac but I glancing at a Macbook Pro 17" also because I'm not that sure about my future location or if it could change.

Whooa, I guess I go for a macbook pro 17 inch then.

I have a backpack type case for my iMac. One of my assistants brings it to all of our shoots as a carry on. It seems to fit in the overhead on all the airliners we have been using, 737, 757, A320 etc.

The case is made by iLugger. It's way heavier than a MacBook but it's nice to have that big bright screen once you set up shop. The alternative is to carry a 23" or 30" Cinema display monitor for the MacBook Pro. You will also need a UPS for the iMac if you travel in parts of the world where power is questionable.

muroshi,

I've seen a pelican case or storm case (I forget which) holding an imac 24" for RED shoots. Its not too bad, the DIT travels with the case, camera and other accessories he needs. It is pretty heavy, but it wasn't un-doable by any means.

There could be some releases today.

The problem with an iMac is I have to buy such a expensive case also. Okay the iLugger ones are better priced. Is there much difference between monitor birghtness?

Cheers,
Yannick
