Would it be possible to have a traditional waveform with a vertical IRE scale (0-108) and horizontal pixels corresponding to the framed objects?

Or even a semi-translucent full screen overlay?

I just find the current waveform too small and I dislike having to check the set monitor's waveform for verification.

Agreed that the waveform is of limited usefulness right now. Full-screen might be a bit much though; I do like seeing the image and the waveform at the same time.

Here's a post that I think makes a lot of sense:
I'd rather see the whole image shift up to the top and erase the top line of info when the waveform comes up. Waveform is too small to be much good and there's no reference lines but if you could get rid of the shutter/asa stuff at the top and shift the picture up then you would free up a lot of space at the bottom to make the waveform higher res and more useful.

Shutter and ISO and stuff liek that don't change during a shot most of the time so why waste screen space on them especially when theyre always available on the back LCD panel anyway? When the waveform is up you should use as much of space as you can so get rid of that top line stuff and give us lots of good high-rez waveform goodness at the bottom!

If anything, a semi-translucent full/quarter screen waveform would be preferable then.

Removing the look-around/shutter readout area won't allow for much of a larger waveform meter.

There's always the option of a waveform that pops up on the corner of the screen as found in the 17" Panasonic model.

As much as i agree Alexander, I think that the false color meter does a pretty good job of adding IRE values to the specific parts of the image.

I agree that the false color mode does its job well.

But, I can't say the same for the waveform. That being said, it would be nice to have another IRE monitoring option aside from false color.

Waveform is a much more popular choice for traditional film makers imo.

It would definitely be cool if there could be a 50-50 overlay. Astro has a high-end 7" monitor that doubles as a waveform/vectorscope. One of the modes is overlaying either on top of the picture. Very graphic.
That said, I'm lovin the false color. Can we make it so you can toggle quickly? Or assign a user button on the camera to toggle this?
Cheers,
Harry

YES, also for it. I'll be using additional onboard monitoring options and this would be very useful. Semi-translucent option is not so important to me, but full screen option TOTALLY.

Thats a big wish from my side also. A big HISTOGRAM and WAVEFORM specially over the monitoring OUTPUTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND We need to see the same information as on the red lcd or EVF on these monitoring outputs !!!!! thx
