ok sry if this has been asked and answered but ive been searching for ages and turned up nothing (im sure i saw this question somewhere).

i'm preping for a shoot coming up in a few weeks and i need a steadycam. Due to certain reasons it works out cheaper and less hassle just to buy a glidecam. As of a while ago i commited entirely to getting the scarlet no matter how long it takes to get to us punters. Because of this i decided everything i buy for the time being i would try to buy based upon the scarlet, So the question is how much does it weight ? will i need to get the 2 to 6 pounds glidecam or the 4 to 10 pounds, i read somewhere that the epic brain will be 6 pounds but im not sure if i imagined that. Some heads up from the mods on this would be very appreciated thx.

[FONT=&quot]I asked this same question seeing as though I plan to do a lot of travelling with this badboy ,but I don't think the question was answered. I’m sure there has been a few figures flung around else were but nothing concrete as yet (well as far as I know ).I think if you read between the line there still in the process of determining the material to be used for the fixed2/3 between aluminum and magnesium so once Jarred and crew have tossed it against the wall a few times well have a better indication ,the lens looks quite solid though as you would expect but I'm sort thinking along the lines of similar config dslr on the market at the moment .Seems quite refined size and ergonomics wise.

yeah, Jim also confirmed that while it would be lighter than RED ONE, BUT its still built like a TANK to be bulletproof. I'd guess it's probably going to be closer to the 15 to 20lb range in lightweight mode fully configured. Depending on number of modules.

The Gildecam is really more for HVX-200 - EX-1 cameras... you might likely need to step up even more weight wise. Easier to balance.

The smaller battery options will help weight considerably.

If we're guessing here, I'll say under 5#

with or without a lens? :) Certainly not with a Red Pro Prime. The lightest is 5.5lbs I think.

OR are we talking Scarlet Fixed?
or Scarlet 2/3" with Mini primes?

My guess was based on S35 Scarlet with RPP's

i was personally talking about the fixed lens scarlet, although the lens on it looks big and heavy i really hope it doesnt way in at the 15 - 20 mark (i was thinking around the weight of the ex1). i was kinda expecting to have to go for the 4000 series. Does anyone know off hand what a red one with the basic fixtures and fittings (battery, lens etc) weights in at?

I have Glidecam 2000 hoping for light Fixed Scarlet. But heavier Scarlet won´t be a problem for me. Between Glidecam 2000 and 4000 there are few differences and they can be modified. Let´s go DIY! :emote_hanged:

There is also a thought that the modular design means you could actually separate the cam into brain/lens and power/everything else via a backpack tether, like the SI2K.

That would be neat!

At the moment I need to put 80 pounds of counterweight to balance the Red One on my Seven Jib. Be great if I only needed 30!

I'd really suggest that you invest in a good glidecam anyway, despite what your camera will weigh. The 2000 and 4000 are a pain in the butt to balance, set up and use. Honestly - get the Glidecam X-22 if you're stuck on the Glidecam brand (or dont want to shell out the money for a Steadicam Pilot or Flyer.) The X-22 will support rigs from 10 to 25lbs, making it suitable for a decked-out scarlet or even a lightweight RED One. I fly my Redrock-equipped EX1 on the X-22 for now (Until I get a Scarlet S35) and it works like a dream.

Just my $0.02.

And a pic :)

ouch lol, ok i may have to re-think this a bit. thanks for the pic and info trevor, i was worried the 4000 hd might be a pain to use, i've seen some realy nice stuff shot on it (price concidered) so i guess its possible (with the trade off of getting a headache from trying to use it :crying: ). i would love to get the x-22 it looks ideal but im afraid its not in the budget this time, im not particularly attached to glidecam so any other surgestions are welcome.
