  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Log File Uploads

I don't know what I am doing wrong.... The render from this clip ends up giving me a single frame of a totally different source clip. Arrghh !
I think I'll go ride my mountain bike.

No crash- works correctly (but slow)

No crash- works correctly (but slow)

I tried Redcine on my antiquated P4 with a NVidia 6200 AGP 8x card and it does work. Just VERY slowly. Enclosed is a log for a session exporting three DPX frames from a 2k project. The files exported OK and look fine.

Even considering my low-end hardware, I wonder if something is not working quite right. Every mouse click or keypad entry takes a minimum of 1 to 2 seconds to register on the screen. It doesn't seem like popping up a menu, or changing a button from "normal" to "highlight", or drawing a single character per keypress in a filename entry box, should take that many million instructions to complete. No other program I have used on any computer (I started with an Apple II) has ever had an interface response that slow. Well, ok, except for a remote X windows session over VHF packet radio.

1.0.0.2 ok with 2k R3D, black/garbage with 4k

1.0.0.2 ok with 2k R3D, black/garbage with 4k

After updating drivers on my NVidia card, the Redcine user interface is not as sluggish as before. I can export TIFF frames from 2k resolution R3D files OK.

I can also view 4k files onscreen, but I cannot export 4k TIFF frames properly. The exported 4k TIFF is (usually) entirely black, or (sometimes) half an image, where the left half is correct and right half is random pixels. A downscaled image example is included, along with the log of the Redcine session that created it.

Come to think about it, this image might not be out of place in "The Matrix".

That's odd... first time I've ever seen this. The only thing I notice is that you're running an AGP graphics card on an older system. It might be that your graphics card is too old, but I'm not sure it is. It's definitely on the slow side as you already found out....

Windows XP SP2
HP wx8000 with dual 3.2GHz Xeon and 4GB RAM
NVidia Quadro NVX 280 w 64MB RAM via 8X AGP
NVidia driver 9.1.3.6

Redcine starts and displays banner but does not respond to any mouse clicks, including "Exit REDCINE"

Had a crash today on my Mac Pro.
Redcine became unresponsive during Playback (Couldn't stop) - then crashed after playing for about 7 mins.

When I do a Quicktime render (any codec) it will only play back the 1st frame of it in Quicktime HELP.. This is killing me!! Please help someone!! The system is brand spanking new.

Here are four log files. These are all under 64-bit Vista.

_1 means normal mode and _2 means XPSP2 compatability mode.

My steps were to launch REDCINE, load shot and then exit REDCINE. _1a shows blue instead of video. The rest report no media after trying to load the shot.

Both source files are the original ones provided by Red:
a - A001_C006_071102_001.R3D (2k)
b - A003_C007_071105_001.R3D (4k)

dude, i was going to grep through your log files, since you've the bad ass dual quads but then i saw you are running Vista x64.... f_cking hell...

I've noticed this a few times before. When you've rendered out from Redcine as DPX, it then tries to use the rendered DPXs as a cache (filename/timecode bar in red) then gets confused and shows some frames as the cached version and some 'live' as well as showing some frames corrupted and half black. Then it usually freezes, and you have to force quit then re-start.

redcine has been working fine for weeks. all of a sudden today it crashes after the splash screen. i cant get it to work... this is the window that appeared that says "send to apple." is that the right thing to post here? could it be this "kern protection failure" thing? what is that and how can i fix it?

redcine crashed

redcine crashed

I opened the new version of redcine (build 82). QT 7.4 is installed, probably thats the problem. so when i opened an old project all was running fine on the macbookpro. so i saved the project and exproted an xml file of the project. after that i opened a new project and loaded all files because i didn't want to have this splitting problem anymore. so i imported the xml file. worked but the xml file has some faults at the clips and in/out points. after that i wanted to change from the library to the player and redcine crashed.
think i will try to reinstall the 7.3 version of QT now :) .

BTW Redcine seems to be really faster at exporting......

thx guys for the new tool....

regards rainer

Dell Latitude or Dell XPS not working with H.264

Dell Latitude or Dell XPS not working with H.264

I did try to output H.264 to create QT .mov file on Dell Latitude D810 or on the higher end Dell XPS. XP-32
And on both systems the REDCINE is failing to process even the one single frame.
Log attached.
QT 7.3 never upgraded to 7.4 but I see that in the log file it references QT 7.4 in one place.

14:08:14.95 INFO : QuickTime 7.49.128 initialized

I guess it is REDCINE QT library used or something.
Never this machine came with QT 7.4 in contact.

On both machines H.263 produces the .mov file but I still have to figure out how to make it high res since the quality is like 320X280

DPX output on XPS is fine and garbled on Latitude (maybe because XPS has NVIDIA and Latitude has ATI)

I spent 50 hours debugging this REDCINE and read all I could find on the reduser.net but I finally have to ask you guys to take a look on it.

Andrew

And it is how Dell XPS is crashing on H.264.
Laptop has 4GB memory and NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT with 256MB, OS XP-32
Again I see reference in the log to :
