Offhollywood co-founder Aldey Sanchez (aka The Red Assassin) just called me from Italy.

He just got off the plane with two Red One camera bodies snuggled together in a sporty Oakley backpack. Connecting flight through Germany, like clockwork, no security issues.

Job is for a Swedish client. Shoot is in Turin, Italy.

Due to the condition of the American dollar - we are a bargain for many global clients.

offhollywood,
could be made a public meeting in order to show the RED potentiality?

I want me some euros!

...very interesting. I'am ready for totally free help on your set in Turin.

thanks

The backpack that was used was an Oakley backpack...

Anyway some of the footage is now up on www.saab.com a teaser for the Saab 9-4X Biopower concept.

Check it out.

Due to that the main site have to be Flash 5 compatible the footage doesn't look superduper, but that is due to compression. Big thanks to Offhollywood for sending Mr Bond and Ol' #39 to italy for three great shooting days.... more to come when the site is up... I think it has been said before but "I love these cameras."

I will post more on the shoot when everything is live and not under wraps, but that will take a couple of days... I'm off to Detroit tomorrow... Boy, I wish I had a RED with me.

i'm kind of curious, how much liability did the prod co have to carry for shipping/usage in the EU? i looked at renting a Dalsa for about a week until the insurance company sent me the quote, then i didn't look at dalsa again. ha ha

did the cost involve the person delivering as a production person? required with the camera or more security?

did he have to juggle paperwork on the US side to avoid having to pay duty upon return to the US?

Offhollywood has insurance to cover our gear traveling and working anywhere in the world - it is an annual policy. If you search "insurance" - there is a thread where I give the contact info of my broker and others -

Really, when was this? What is your DALSA quote #? It would start with SO#? I can't find you in our system.

I'm surprised at how quickly someone from Dalsa responds to any statement made about the company.

It's as if they have a word search feature that combs every camera forum waiting for their names to be spouted.

Please don't take my comment as a negative one Illya, I just find it funny how quickly you guys respond, same goes for the SI guys.

We should know that this forum (http://www.reduser.net/) is today observed simultaneously by many different "RADAR systems" from the overall cinetech industry.

Same goes for Red.

Any company involved in the media industry closely watches multiple Internet venues for public comments, both pro and con. You'd be foolish not to, especially in an age when anybody can say anything and have it immediately accepted as fact (and spread like wildfire) by millions of uninformed readers who are inclined to believe anything they're told. And that goes both ways.
