  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Offhollywood starts 2nd "all RED" feature -

very well...

Brook, you can borrow my prototype Red Heat cover to warm his hand... :)

And my pipe wrench...

I'm betting Mark has his own special forces team to protect himself and his family (the reds)

Mark, You also have the swedish red vikings that got you and Mr. Bonds back.

shoot day 20 of 21 - some frame grabs with cast members John Ventimiglia, Devon Aoki and Bijou Philips and Kris Lemche -

Does Red not have an RS out or some kind of 12 volt output?

Thank you Mark.

As usual this is top notch stuff, you really are spoiling us, and it is nice to be reminded that even the early models of RedOnes can achieve perfect, low noise, no clipping and ultra sharp images.

Hi Emmanuel,

2 of the pictures display fairly obvious clipping.

these are down-and-dirty "on set" grade references done by the gaffer & DP from 4K tiffs - the clipping you see is intentional - we have pulled lots of their stuff into our Scratch suite and the dynamic range in the stuff these guys are shooting is amazing -

I can't tell you what the budget of the films is, as it's the producers job to represent it HIGHER than reality until the film sells to a distributor - but it is LOW and I will say this - I have been working in the world of independent features for 20 years - and I have never seen a film with TWICE this budget look this good. Period. Shooting this film on the Red had added SIGNIFICANT production value to the film.

I am very sad to retire Elvis and Mr. Bond tonight. But they did have a great ride.

Thanks Mark for a clearing that up.

Great shots and the best wishes to the project.

Also we would need here at the forum more material like this that shows RED's dynamic range in "a good light".

Thing is ... "a good light" is VERY subjective. DP's clip highlights intentionally on film all the time, etc.

We find the most impressive thing to show people is the REDCODE RAW file with no correction - then "swing" the image around in Scratch so they can see just how much room they have.

Maybe we'll make a split screen "dynamic range demonstration" in H264 after the holidays.

The crowd on REDUSER is pretty damn critical, and it always takes me some effort to get people to agree to releasing images on the web - we do our best to share what we are up to and post stuff -

At the end of day - a BUNCH more people will be shooting and posting images very soon - I will actually feel a little less pressure - that being said, I love to share this stuff -

Thanks Mark.

Looking forward soon to see more good stuff from OffHollywood Studios production.

Mark,

This is definitely good looking stuff, and if the clipping referred to is the one with the winged muse or whatever, then I can't see any other way to have shot that but to get those whites blown out. I am one of those critical people on the forum, if only because I have decided to go with RED all the way and want/need it to be the best it can be, but seeing images like this does truly make me feel better. It is important for people like you to post, amid the sea of footage out there, because your work is consistently among the best and needed to keep tipping the scales upwards in RED's favor.

Looking forward to some split screen comparisons,
