I think you'll find that pixel for pixel, the panasonic is the better deal

Red:
12000000/$15900 = 0.001325 / pixel

Panasonic:
270000/$280 = 0.001037037 / pixel

And the panasonic comes with batteries & charger, built-in LCF, carry strap AND auto focus. Give the numbers to your producer & let them make the decision.

No contest, the Panny is only 1.96 lb. fully loaded.

The 750x digital zoom is the selling point for me. Optical zoom is dead.

Yeah, I've never liked the whole optical zoom thing...makes all images appear to have this accordion-thing happen. Like that crazy shot in Nichols' Graduate. Woulda been much better with a digital zoom. Or Hitchcock and his silly Vertigo shot...digital zoom.

Yes, a tough one. But...rumor has it that Red Two will be a good old tube camera.

Does that mean I won't have to get the O'Connor 2060HD? Will the 1030HD be enough?

"perfect camcorder for someone seeking reasonable value with virtually no sacrifice in essential features"

We always dreamed about lightweight cheap camera with affordable storage solution.

VHS is analog. Therefore it gives a warmer image. Therefore it is better.

QED. :)

Mmm... analog... yum.
