Just a quick note to let everyone know that the RED Ninjas (redninjas.net) are not affiliated with RED. A few people have contacted RED directly asking if they worked for RED or not so I felt it was best to answer it up front.

They sounded like a RED affilate to me. Thanks for the clarification.

like they need the help...they own google and with 6 guys constantly posting on this board, it is a wonder any of us get any work at all.

not taking away anything from them because i think they are good guys and smart, but, they have cornered the market for the low hanging fruit.

Kinda got the gist of that too after realizing who all the players were. That's cool though, it can be tough to keep a tight band of geniuses working together. That's why I stay solo.

Kidding. Or am I?

depends on who you find to team up with. Guess reduser's a good plattform, and not only for newbies - look at GibCor. Building co-ops always was a strength of small producers and I like it. Shooting RED is a challenge cause it's new technology and new workflows. Teaming up really will help. For me definitely a way to go - so folks, be prepared for when I get mine around march!

Cheers, Friedrich

lets put it that way: though it may not have been clear for some, its clever.
Of course Brooke as Moderator and showing up on exhibitions doesn't help differencing that either (this is not personal, Brook!)

On the other hand: If I would have had the chance, I would probably have done it (too?).
What remains is I am just envious I hadn't the opportunity to do it before.
Cool name guys.
And what a perfect advert this thread is ;-)

It does not look like you are hurting??

Google costs a buttload to stay at the top. And more times than
not it is usually your competitors who are clicking on your
Google links.:ninja:

they have cornered the market for the low hanging fruit...

"low hanging fruit,"

would this include, uh...sour grapes???? :shifty:

heh. sorry. couldn't resist....

they're living the RED dream...to use the opportunities that owning the camera affords, to take their existing business to the next level, whatever that might be for them. am i jealous? you betcha...they sound like they're having a ball!

And, why not start your own group? Call it the RED Squad....
Then someone can document the RED gang wars with their own RED's...
Who has the biggest lenses?

Now I feel guilty for sticking this thread. At the time it was only Brian's post, I should've just locked it too. I'm going to un-stick it and move it. :bleh:

RED Ninjas own google because they don't have any real competition at this point, not until more cameras are out there.

I guess I need to see what I can do to become a RED Ninja too. Need an agent in Denver?

Yep, reduser was the catalyst for GibCor. No stopping us now - oh wait, just found this quote on the red ninja page:

With six RED ONE cameras on hand and thanks to it’s association with “REDuser”, immediate access to countless more, the Red Ninjas have more Red 4K resources, experience and knowledge than any one else.

Special thanks to the awesome red ninja team for clarifying that they are #1 in knowledge and experience. This way GibCor knows we at least made the top 100 with our 3D, underwater, aerials, and ah hell the list is to long to go on here.:bleh:

In this recent podcast GibCor out numbers red ninjas two to 1 - probably due to their superior ninja training they only needed one though?:shiftyph34r:

Disclaimer: This is me pulling their chain - read sense of humor/practical joker - the individuals that comprise the red ninjas are all close affiliates of GibCor, major contributors to LART and all around very talented guys - hell just ask them:bleh:

Alright, you've sold me. I'm available to begin work immediately. I'm a nonpretentious director/host at Shoney's. So I can help with virtually everything on set, and then get us a discount on a riblet platter after the shoot.

Call it the Blue Ninjas- then we can all sing Ice-T's Colors:

Hahahahaha. "I - AM - UH - nightmare walkin'..." yeah whatever. Hahahaha. My dream has been to reshoot this video in 4K (including recreating the scenes from the film) just for the hell of it. And then I'll move on to hacking New Jack City...the greatest movie of ALL TIME. Far better than Kubrick's 2001.

I love what the RED Ninjas are doing. Big fan. I think it is great, and should be commended, and congratulated.

Them...GibCor...offhollywood. Lots of great success stories out there. Many more to come. Hopefully I will be one too. Hopefully you will be one too.

Let's go. The better we all do with our REDs, the more work will come to ALL of us. It is the RED Ninjas, the GibCors, the offhollywood's (and many more - i am a fan of ibloom/kosmos/digital fx/crewpix/adobeone, etc. etc. etc. etc.

I hope we all continue to work together to accelerate the acceptance of digital cinema in all walks of the production industry.

I agree Skip...the core of any business, especially in this industry, is networking and forming alliances. A boutique shop business model should revolve around maximizing technology and minimizing overhead. Alliances and networking are critical elements of that business plan.

BTW RED Ninjas: RED #8 is my private camera, but GibCor has owned two other RED One cameras since September, thus we've had (and have) three available for our projects. My second personal camera, #700, is due for delivery hopefully in January, which will make two personal cameras for me, and two GibCor owned cameras by late January. Ken also has his personal RED #1435 coming in Spring, so by then GibCor will have a collective kit of 5 RED One cameras. We won't stop there. We'll keep buying RED One cameras, and I would expect us to own a collective 10 or more REDs by early 2009.

Beyond all this, GibCor is allied with the individuals comprising RED Ninjas and other Red-owning entities and individuals. We expand when we need to for specific projects - then between projects shrink back down to just me and Ken to minimize overhead.

Like I said, Gibby...just give me a holler and I'll be more than happy to lug cable or whatever on your set. I'm sure I could learn a ton from you and said party. In exchange, you guys get all the riblets you can stomach. Spread the wealth old chum. Alms for the poor.
