  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New RedCine 1.0.1!!!!!!

so i miss in the new version also a xml input or a bridge to final cut... like color it has... would be very nice don't typing in all the in and outputs.... and the thing with the divided files when they are larger than 2 GB... so my calculator is also allways switched on... and again typing numbers of frames in...

but software is running properly good...

thx for it....

regards
rainer

Hmm...seems to have a bug at output.
Here is my render screen:
rc2.jpg

And the actual output:
rc3.jpg

Anders, not sure it is the problem, but on the print screen I can see you are NOT viewing the shot on the timeline, but the "copy" shot, and REDCINE only output the shots on the timeline. So the problem might be that you have set a scale on the shot that will be output, but not on the one you are viewing.

hope it is clear,
antoine.

The log folder should be located in:

c:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/REDCINE/Settings/log

The file is REDCINE.log

The reason you may not be able to locate it is that you will need to go into your 'Folder Options' under 'Tools', select the 'View' tab and under folders, change the preference from 'Do not show hidden files and folders' to 'Show hidden files and folders.

As for your inability to generate output, have you tried changing the file name for subsequent tests? It may not be allowing you to rewrite to the same file name.

You have to leave the #6.E (or whatever it says) in the name of the file. I made the same mistake myself... :-) It is in the notes, which I never read. Add your file name to the front of that and you are good to go.

Jim

Ehm... it works... thanks. Sorry

Thanks for the tip. But unfortunately both shots are scaled 50%, only the grade differs, and the same result with other (non versionized clips)

Nobody seems to want to comment on this...the only answer seem to be "go buy scratch" but what is being done to make it a bit simpler to plug into existing 2K work flows?

We've indicated REDCINE will have pull-list support (not a full conform), where it exports the frames you need. However, this is the first beta release and it doesn't contain this feature yet.

This is not new information, nor is it new information that this is like a one-light tool to get the image looking right, it's not a full DI suite.

A New feature is per shot input sharpening:
rc1.jpg

Doesn't seem to make any difference currently...

1.rob you said that this feature is something different, but cant find your post.

2.will in redcine be a false color option to check the highlights, so people can choose between the histogram and false color ?

3. Noise Reduction NR (i suppose it is noise reduction) Button is gone in 1.01
(was located under SHOT settings in 1.0, exatly the place where the new feature is now), is it moved or erased ?

thanks

Rob,

Thank you!

I am a bit behind on this. I had not seen this anywhere but I am glad you confirmed this.

I do not see REDCINE as a substitute for a DI. I have always seen it as a one light suite. I used the word CONFORM in other posts and that offended some people. I should have used EXTRACT. As in EXTRACT the needed frames for the CONFORM and finish.

Sorry if this led anyone to think that I was looking to REDCINE to be a finishing tool, without secondaries, etc it was obvious to me that it was never intended to be that.

Things sure can fly crooked in these threads sometimes. :)

Thanks,
David

1.rob you said that this feature is something different, but cant find your post.

that was a mistake, hence I removed it after 10 seconds (so you were quick)

As far as I know NR has never been in this application. I'll see if I can find out what you're talking about :)

button was called NR you could choose Low Medium high,.....see picture :right to "length"

but if it is not used anymore why should i make me trouble with this

it was not noise reduction....so what the hell was it, a mystery for all time :)

or you tell me what is was.

false color would be really cool...but i think first goal is getting redcine bulletproof before making presents.

No worries David, I should've written it a bit more nicer as well :)

Quicktime 4096x2048 exports to 16-bit QT codecs still fails, when 4095x2048 works fine. I've tried CineForm and Sheer QT encodes. Log file attached.

David,

Look at these lines in your logfile towards the top:

: NVidia Api : NVidia Complete Version 1.00
: Driver : 84.29 (DM84_22-5253)

The 84.29 driver was released in April of 2006. Update it and try again.

I updated to:
NVidia Api : NVidia Complete Version 1.10
Driver : 162.65 (R162_10-8642)

And the 16-bit Quicktime failure still occurs. Please see the new log file.

took a look at the log and it looks like your framebuffer is only 8 bit. The 16 bit quicktime codec probably can't take that.

Really looking forward to a working version of Redcine ....any update coming soon ?

I'm surprised to hear you say that; are you using it all the time ? paying customers on a deadline ?

It still does not work at all (grey frames on every clip) with Leopard on a 2.2 gig Intel core duo Macbook.

Has not worked on this machine yet.

I am not sure many people would say it is ready for Primetime.

David

Thanks David, for a minute there I thought I had missed something.
