I've got two or three 720p MOV (H.264) video files I want to convert and burn onto DVDs for viewing on a standard home DVD player. I tried using Nero to do it, but the resulting video was skipping and staggering and looked bad. Maybe something to do with the framerate conversion?

What programs can I use to convert these MOVs to files that can burn nicely onto DVDs? Any general tips?

I use Windows XP and I have the full CS3 production suite, with Premiere, Encore, etc, plus I have the Nero Ultimate software, or whatever it's called.

Thanks.

Tom,

If you are creating a DVD to play in a DVD player, you first need to do a conversion of the video and audio files. Encore can do this or you can use external programs. I use TMPGenc by Pegasus as one of the best conversion utilities. You would need to create an .m2v file (mpeg) for the video and I would recommend a dolby digital AC3 file for the audio. Encore can do the transcoding to AC3 fine.
I use Encore all the time - it does a good job and is not too difficult to figure out.
If you are just using Nero and trying to use full res audio like .wav, the bitrate can sometimes be too high and it will cause studdering.

Hope this helps.

I just got Encore installed, so I will try it out. Thanks, Keith.
