I'm in 1600s and I was hoping I could push my place in line back until this april? Is this possible? What's the deal? I will need an extra month or two as I will be out of the country.

send red a mail....if they say its no problem, just switching the serial numbers,
you will find a lot of people between 2200- 2700 who wants to change the place with you-----including me :)

but if it the same like selling a cam to someone, and he will sell his cam to you (warranty issue comes in place ), i would prefer to wait...but you will probably find someone.

i was under the impression Red would hold your camera until you were happy with the current firmware enabled, so i would assume you could still retain your camera build #1600> until you were ready for it to be shipped, saving you having to still wait on the actual production of a new one, if you decide otherwise. They are a cool company ....Jim can i buy shares?

Red will let you wait a month before paying when your number is called.

Wouldn't you lose your deposit if you canceled and reordered?

James I got two cameras on order
One is 1114 another one 2304
i would be more then happy to pick two cameras at the same time.
Send me a PM and I am sure we can arrange something.
Cheers

I am in a different situation than albert. I have two cameras ordered and they will both be shipped within about ten days of one another. I only need one to play with for awhile to familiarize myself with the camera and then the other one when I start production. Would be willing to change places with my second camera, number 1858, but not my first. But only with RED's blessing and going through their system. Otherwise, I will just stay with the status quo.

"Wouldn't you lose your deposit if you canceled and reordered?"

No, deposit are refundable at anytime ( no reason needs to be stated) .

Is that just hearsay or is there a link?

Deposits are fully refundable at any time for any reason.

Once your camera is ready, you have 30 days to make payment and figure out how you're going to take delivery. Depending on your situation (out of the country), RED may make an exception -- call or email them to find out.

Worst case scenario is they could just hold on to your deposit and move you to the end of the line...

Straight from the man in charge...

If you are so inclined, the sooner the better. Deposits are fully refundable if you cahnge your mind. We expect the line to grow at IBC.

Jim

It's been said many times in many different places... Not sure how you missed it.

Information overload:usd:

April you say for 1600? You just might be dreaming on that. I'm at 214 and although the plan was for it to be shipped around December 10, the amount of work to do on retrofitting 1-100 and getting started on 101-200 at the end of this month is more likely to chew up December instead, so I'm expecting mid to late January to be a more realistic shipping date for mine.

You camera won't ship until it has been paid for. If you want to take delivery later, RED will hold your serial number until you are ready for delivery and it has been paid for.

Thanks for the clarification, Brent

Brent, just to be clear, If I put doun a deposit on a third camera right now (which I cannot currently afford), I could keep pushing its delivery back until such time as I could afford it, and take delivery almost immediately even if there was a backlog of orders after mine?

The deposit being received by RED locks your place in queue. Camera will not be shipped until balance is paid on the camera, correct. This process was put in place to allow people to get a camera with a feature set they feel they "can work with". This was not put in place to allow people the opportunity to delay delivery until they can afford it. So, it is feature-set driven, not customer-can-afford-it driven.

Hope that makes sense,
BC

When should I start thinking about all of the additional accessory purchases? I put down some reservations but haven't put down anything yet for the prime set, extra battery kits, a CF reader, the 50-150mm zoom lens, etc.
