Pre-Record / Buffer Record

Hi,

Have searched for this but have fond no answer: Will RED have a pre-record / buffer-record function, and how many seconds will it buffer? I am using this on my audio recorder (Aaton Cantar) all the time and for documentaries it is the best thing since sliced bread.

it was not planned, but i have read something about it here in reduser.net that jim and the red team like to activate it.

sorry can't remember in which discussion it was. it was like one or two months ago i have read it. perhaps you will find it in the efp/eng section.

It's been discussed a number of times here on reduser.net.

There is clearly a need/demand for it and Red have indicated that they will look
at developing pre-record for installation on future updates. Though obviously there might well be software and hardware limitations on RED that might make this a challenge to get up and running.

I do know that by having a pre-record buffer it would make my some of my shoots far easier and would improve the chances of capturing amazing footage/events @ 4k!
