  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

It seems to me that Red tell us about ETAs whenever they can, so it's not our place to nag them. Except that our first camera is going to be on its way to us very soon, and we have to choose a flash module. We really want the SATA 1.8", but what if the cards are still listed as "Coming Soon" in February, when we get underway? It would really help to know when the SATA is ready. Is there any chance of a vague ETA on Red SATA flash and/or RedRam?

Also we're almost at the "end of 2007" - red.com still lists the Red 50-150mm as coming at the "end of 2007"? Will it really be available in under seven weeks?

Chas is right Christopher, this practice does piss people off, myself included.
 
It's about punctuation. A question mark at the end of this line would have sufficed. But if people are getting "pissed off" by things like that, they should consider venturing outside. Many other things happening with far more significance.

Wow. I hardly ever start threads, and look how many people I annoyed in one go. So, erm, for those of us with actual feature films to make, it would be really good to get feedback on the actual issue here rather than arguing about how soft certain clips are or about how well worded a post may be. (I put the question mark in now - but please, Reduser is getting less and less useful. There used to be questions and answers, and now it just seems like a lot of people playing defend and flame. Am I the only one who actually cares when the ****ing equipment we need will arrive?)

Hey Christopher, it's all cool brother. People's eagerness for delivery information and/or updates is reflected in their response to the title of your thread. When there's so much emotional attachment to a product release this sorta thing can happen I guess.

Thanks Blue. I think you hit the nail on the head. Emotional. When it's late at night, the days are running out, and there's still no ETA on half the things we need, it gets very emotional. Deep breath, trust in red...

I think Richard isn't the only one in this thread that needs some rest.
 
Well it does excite people to see a thread with like the title of this one. And then it's a disappointment to see that it is not what it seemed to be.

We should all just add the question mark if it is indeed a question and not an announcement.

I don't get mad just a let down....

It's obvious you are new to this area of the industry (Based on your wording and questions) so let me help you out.

1st: Red's speed or lack thereof has little or nothing to do with your feature. So bringing it up really does no good.

2nd: It has been said hundreds of times in many of threads: If you planned to shoot a film with equipment you do not have in your hands, then the problem is yours, not RED's.

3rd: Wait. Or ask for your money back. Those are your choices, since it's a free country you can nag if you wish, but it will just waste your time writing it, and ours reading it.

Sorry if this note seems a little harsh, but these are the facts. Not likeing them will do little to change them

If you want a realistic date.. I am betting you will have everything you need form RED July 2008.

How I wish I was new to the industry. I might not feel so jaded.

But no, it's not harsh. You are right about there being no point in nagging. I've resisted for so long, and in a moment of weakness, just posted in the vain hope there'd be a response. Deep down, I think I knew I'd just get lots of "leave Red in peace" posts. And I know that's what we should do. My apologies if I upset people. I'd probably have been upset too, if it had happened to me,.

And you're right, we can shoot the feature without our Red stuff, but that would be, frankly, crap. I like the workflow, the image, the equipment, everything about it. I think I'll make a better film with Red, and save about half a million dollars. So, no wonder I weaken once in the middle of all this.
