Want to share with all redusers my experiences with Glide Cam V25 and
REd. Today we shoot 1 scene 2 minutes long with Glide Cam .
1. Power.
To connect RED ONE to Top BreakOut box we use custom cable . From 2
Pin 12V Lemo from Glide Cam top mount to RED Power Lemo Connector . We
use DC power Cable , just cut it and put Lemo 2 Pin connector .
2. Batteries
For normal balance and separate power you need to mount 2 RED Bricks
on Glide Cam battery plate . First battery will power Camera , second
battery will be used for DownConverter , FF , Wireless , and etc.
3. Monitoring .
We use RED ONE monitor + 6Ft LCD Cable . (With 3ft cable you will be
very limited in monitor position )
Also if you own AJA downconverter you can power it from Battery with
AJA ABPWRCBL Anton Bauer Power Cable .
4. Follow Focus
We own Bartech FF , and power it from Top BreakOut box on Glide Cam .
From 12V out . (Powering from 2 battery ) .Also you can power it from Camera , but better to power it from second battery .
5. Balance
My maximum configuration was RED ONE (only body ) with top rods for FF
, bartech FF module + M-One Motor . Zeiss UltraPrime + Arri LMB-5 +
1 Filter . With this configuration you can balance your Glide Cam
without problem . Also if you need you can add 2 filter .
6. Problems
A) Battery indicator . When camera is mount on Glide
Cam , Red Can not indicate battery information . Sow you need to
check battery every time .
B) LCD cable , because of no place for additional cables in GlideCam we can not put LCD
cable inside stick . And we are limit in 360 rotation .
