  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi. Total newb to red (anything) on a project that begins this week. The budget is tiny so there's nobody else to handle the grading--is this something I should do in redcine? I don't have any experience (yet) with Color, but I think I'd be able to manage if I needed.

I've read so much in the last 3 days my head might have already exploded. I read the whitepaper for red & fcs but I'd love some suggestions on workflow, particularly how/when to use redcine (not mentioned at all in the white paper) & suggestions for exports to bring in to fcp. Since we are outputting on DVD, I'd like to break the 4k files down to a more manageable size sooner rather than later.

Anyone want to talk me off the ledge?

Clips are various, 4k & 2k
5-6 minute feature
Editing on FCP
Outputting to SD (DVD)

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Edit from the Proxies or convert all to ProRes via Log and Transfer. Really depends if you want to go back and color correct in RedCine or you're fine correcting ProRes in Color.
