For anyone who's interested, here's a solution for mating a nice, inexpensive shotgun shock mount to a RedHandle-mount for holding a Rode NTG3 in position on top mounted RedRails.

Works great in various fore/aft positions with & without windscreens.

You need:

1) A "Stage Hands model MY-320" mic mount - $13 to $20

2) A hack saw

3) A Red Handle mount detached from the handle

4) A bit of sand paper

5) A 24 inch piece of picture hanging wire and/or a tube of super glue.

Use the picture wire if you need your RedHandle mount for other things and you don't care how it looks. Use the super glue if you can sacrifice your RedHandle mount and want it to look great. Use both if you are paranoid about super glue (me).

Total time to complete: less than 20 mins.

Total cost: Less than $20 + RedHandle mount.

A regular shock mount threaded onto a Bogen NanoClamp works well too. Attaches to any rod on your rig in seconds. And isn't as ghetto as the above, but still pretty cheap.

I just use the monster cine 15mm to hotshoe adapter for $15 and then mount a standard hot shoe mic holder onto a zacuto quick release. Most expensive part is the 15mm to 19mm zacuto adapter but it can be swapped for something else.

Thanx for that quick reply. Is there a way I can save money by buying one mount that would go on both a poll for boom micing and can be attached to the camera with adjustable knobs.
