Hi,

I've been asked to output Dailies on DVD for an upcoming project.
I've always always given drives to post at the end of the day and created .RSXs on occasion in RedAlert witht the DP.

I'm not a huge fan of the quicktimes, but am sure they would be perfect to output to a DVD or USB stick for the client/producer as a reference.

Looking for suggestions and experiences for something relatively quick! As it would be done after wrap once the footage is all transferred. Planning for the machine to back up to LTO4 overnight and dailies should be ready for the start of the next day.

Also curious about chapter marks if burning to a DVD.
Any thoughts or experiences are appreciated. I'm using a Mac, FCS2, Toast.
Appreciate any suggestions.

Converting the _M quicktimes to DVD compatible .m2v files takes 3hrs to render 1hr of footage on my MBP 2.4/4GB RAM
Has anyone been using REDRushes to create dailies (1/4 debayer or lower) for dailies viewing on a laptop?
If it's quicker than going .M2V I'd be happy with giving rushes on a USB stick.

You could use ReMaster to generate a 640x360, and letterbox the source. At that size you can manually select '1/8' size decode and let it scale up, or 1/4 size and scale down.

On a Macbook 2.2GHz it runs at 16-17 fps.

@Brian Boz

I like the idea of using a USB stick...

Personally, I've been running the R3Ds through Clipfinder to get H.264s with timecode burn in. Then I'll encode the M2Vs.

I'd be curious to know the time/quality difference in letting DVDSP create the MPEGs on the fly vs. running through Compressor, which is what I do.
