I haven't heard anything about the RED vs LG "scarlet" trademark infringement action for a long time. Then today, entirely by accident I found the attached document when I was looking up something else.

If I read it correctly it says LG cancelled the trademark "scarlet" late last year.

Funny that there has been nothing about that here.

A quick UPSTO search showed that RED holds the trademark for amongst other things, SCARLET 3K, 2K and...SCARLET 2k Pocket Pro...
However, there appears to be more then one current "live" trademark for just the word Scarlet. None of them seem to be REDs, however.

I thought that RED must have won that - whether they just settled or took them to court I don't know, but I haven't seen any of those TVs or the ads in ages...
Further reading indicates that the whole LG Scarlet campaign was an expensive failure anyway. Half the LG Scarlets had plasma screens, and apparently people aren't buying Plasma.
So now they're going to concentrate on a "something for everyone" campaign, with LCD TVs in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
