I've been working on numerous RED shoots where we convert R3D files to compressed QTs which were edited in AVIDS and handed to me to composite in AE.
We now have a FCP room set up where we can edit offline using the R3d files. Yet with constant changes in edit (Broadcast) I need the flexibility to work on files prior to them finalizing.
I have tested the proxies in an AE composition and realized I cannot view the 4k and 2k files correctly. The M and P files are viewable just fine. Is this some sort of software or codec problem with AE? Or do I need CS4 in order for AE to read the 4k and 2k files correctly.
This all leads into a workflow between a FCP room using R3d files where an edit needs to be handed over to an AE compositor. Needing the flexibility of swapping files on the fly if there are edit changes and time isn't wasted just waiting for compression of R3d files to QTs. And of course running into technical issues where 4k and 2k R3d QT proxies cannot be viewed correctly in AE CS3. Anyone got some answers?
Thanks
