Does anybody know if there is software that will convert any quicktime to a r3d file that redcine can read? I am just trying to make a file that can be color timed in redcine. I love its capabilities when i work with red files and would like to color correct with it when i have to shoot the smaller cheaper cameras as well.

for now and the foreseeable future, only a RED camera can produce an r3d.

If you want to kind of mimic QT movies to handle like R3D, convert it to CineForm.
CineForm provides ActiveMetadata and 12-bit RAW format. Too bad it doesn't work in Color but Color Finesse works well with CineForm.

Hi Kaku!

I must confess i'm kind of fed up searching for the proper and reasonnably integrated and stable RED Post workflow. I spend SO MUCH time on technique rather than on creating content :):):)

For now, for me, the fastest and easiest way is STILL to first convert all R3D files of a project to QT with REDCINE and then edit "normal" and realtime readable footage.

Could i achieve it in a simple and fast way with DPX or any 4:4:4 codec ?
Would Cineform help me keep it simple and fast ?

thanks for sharing Kaku. Truly appreciated.

Antoine
