I have been trying to find out more information on this but I haven't found a thread on it.

QT uncompressed 10 bit log from Redcine is brighter and more washed out than the 10 bit log DPX files with identical settings.

Anyone else find this?

Hi Allan,

What app do you use to see DPX ?

Do you use AJA DPX to QT Translator and then watch the QT file on your desktop ? If so, i see the same here...darker than a Uncompressed 10 bit or ProRes.

Hey Antoine, I am viewing the DPX and QT after they have been imported onto Autodesk smoke.

I also looked at them on the desktop of a PC using QT for the QT and CS3 for the DPX. Same thing, DPX darker.

I was always under the impression that any gamma lift was a problem with FCP or Apple, but maybe also with QT itself. I can't imagine that the DPX file is darker than it's supposed to be...

Oh my God...

...and Autodesk Smoke is not a amateur suite...

Allan, Same behavior as AJA DPX to QT...darker...not funny...i understand..I'm very frustrated too.

The Quest for the truth...which one is correct.

I dont understand why the video world doesn't embrace the simpliest concept as we use in audio (i'm a musician), UNITY GAIN. REFERENCE.

Seems too much to ask in this video world.

Allan,

Since DPX are RGB, can you modify the way Smoke reads the gamma file ?

Maybe change from 2.2 to 1.8 ?

Just trying...

Best luck.
