The R3D files were converted to ProRes
Edited
Finished then handed to me for color grading.

I broke it up into 4 reels
Took reel 1 totaling 40 clips
Took that into Crimson it found the R3D files in match, gave it 4 second handles and exported that for REDCINE.
Sent that to REDCINE did a 1st light exported out ProRes422 HQ
Then did a round trip out of Crimson opened that in FCP.

It seems to have the right clips but they are out of sync.
No Rhythm or reason that i can find. Its inconstant so i cant find a fast fix.

Any help any good crimson people or IAN???

thanks

Or is the monkey program better for fixing this?

40 clips is getting to the limit of what REDCINE can handle.
You should divide the timeline into two.

Oh, the sync is because of what I posted in the other thread. Maybe changing the timecode can let you access the original in/out of the original clips? I always capture the whole clips or just use proxies because of this problem. You might have to line up the original proxies on the prores timeline manually.

Were you using multiclip to edit? I've had timecode issues with FCP/timecode and multiclipping on many occasions.

40 clips should be no problem for Crimson. Regularly had crimson do reels of hundreds of shots with no issues.

Kenn,

I was told by Ian to keep the number down in REDCINE.

Thanks Kenn,

Do you know the solution for Luis, tho? When the clips were ingested with L&T as proress with in/out point were made there then later to recapture the in/out point are no longer match with the original timecode.

RedCine, on our machines at least, will handle around 100 clips. If it fails, it hangs on opening the sequence - I have never had it bug out and export the wrong parts of clips, but perhaps that's just pure luck!

Sync issue is odd - you can sometimes run into issues if the clips can be found in several places... When you performed the match operation in Crimson, did the clips report as "Found" or "Multiple"? Just a thought...

Good luck hunting it down, that doesn't sound like any fun at all...

Speed change or reversing the clips are another ones to causing screwing up.

You guys are giving me great ideas.
THANK YOU so much for your time guys.

After looking deeper into a few clips at 5 in the morning trying to figure this out.
I have ruled out speed changes and revers clips.
I did a small test of 12 clips that I know for sure are as clean as can be.
And they are still off sync.

It looks like during the converting or log and transfer whatever was done by the original people to handle the footage, they may have given it In & Out Points. Because the clips are not the same length as the original proxies.
I can see how someone who has not worked with RED and used this workflow would do that.
Looks like they cut off 3-6 seconds off a clip to maybe save space/time?
If this is the case i doubt any of this will be easy to fix.

My guess is with new In and Out Points im screwed.

Does that sound about right?

yep, yep.

I had to go through pretty much everything manually before to fix the problems.
