Just wanted to let everyone know what is included in the standard kit when you order a Mantis.

Standard Kit:

Dovetail and adjustable shoulder pad
Cross bar with rosettes (Arri standard size)
2 x telescopic handle extensions
1 x straight bicycle style handle
1 x bicycle style handle with Origo mount

Coming Soon:
1 x Shoulder Pad Cover**

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT:

1 x V Lock Assembly - $125
- This can be mounted to the rear of the shoulder pad mount and allow mounting of the ET Red Drive shock mount or any other V Mount accessories.
1 x EVF Tube Mount - $125
- This can be mounted to the top of the Mantis and allow the EVF to be placed on the Mantis if needed. Please note that this option is only available when using the Mantis in a configuration where the dovetail if bolted directly to the bottom of the Red.

**Just a quick note that there will be a nylon Cordura shoulder pad cover that will come standard with every Mantis. It is not currently shipping but it will be soon. For those who already bought the Mantis, we will be sending out the shoulder pad cover as soon as they are available at no charge.

The cover will fit over the shoulder pad and then velcro to the shoulder pad mount. It will protect the pad from wear and its also washable.

Here is a photo of the prototype.

Do you have any pics of the Mantis configured with the EVF and operator looking through the view finder? Just curious how that functions in practice.

Chris, looking nice with the cover. Question, will we be able to slip in your alternative shoulder pads (tempurpedic material, etc.) into this cover as well?

Chris,

Why do you say the EVF mount can be bolted onto the Mantis only if the camera is bolted directly to the dovetail? I've tried it with the ARRI base attached and it's working fine. Am I missing something here?

Hi Mark,

You're correct that the tubular clamp can be attached to the font of the MANTIS dovetail when using the bridge plate but the tube holding the 5" EVF Mnt dovetail will prevent you from extending the left iris rod forward under the lens.

Mounting the EVF on the Mantis is the best way to go handheld. I wish there was a way I could mount my Redrock mattebox upside down on the top mounts just so I keep the EVF on the Mantis permanently.

Hi Rick,

We are waiting for a handful of final samples to nail down a few details including whether we can make the side panel out of some sort of heavy duty elastic to accommodate various pad materials and thicknesses. Some of the planned materials in addition to the current microcell is silicon gel and Tempur-Pedic.
