Hi.

Risky business, showing off unfinished work...

But I want some feedback, and it's rather empty around me here...

So I'll list what I know I'll do.
The VO is just temporary (and sometimes sync is off...
The music... I'll kill part two
Colors... not there...
I'll take off another 30 seconds - I know where.
I'll either take in the nature theme more or take it out.

The film streams here, the DL is about 59 megs...

All in all it's about 5 days more work in here before encoding, but it's now I can change stuff... :)
So: Kill me! :)

Edit: Now offline

BTW, I'll take down the link in 24 hours...

And BTW, it's not really x-rated, but I guess it's rated...

And when I watch on a PC it's far too bright...

And the VO is in English...

Nice.

But she looks more like a porn star than him and maybe that's the story point or it's about his "dream(s)" :) .

Also lack of f/1.2 lenses is obvious at low light and night shots but don't need

MPs or SuperSpeeds because you would get some of still lenses with that speed.

Interesting.

Hey Gunleik its very nice, I like it but her exterior don't fit there.
I enjoyed run and gun things, nice details, rythm of edit and color mood.
Thanx

Thanks,

For this thing, I actually don't mind some noise and rough shots. So I have to admit, I don't miss the superspeeds. But I see your point, Sanjin.

There is no real grade here yet. And I use it to find out about Color/RAW/LUTS, which is so far... not very satisfying :) But I think I'll figure it out.

If you remove the display LUT, the DPXs and RAW files end up in different worlds.

For this preview I had to lift the gamma on the exported file, which washes it out in a bad way and gains noise in the lowlight shots in another way than what was planned.

But, as I said, I think it's solveable.

Cheers!

awesome :) not sure what to say other than I watched it straight through without pausing or looking checking out another page. no small compliment! congrats

But there would be not any good balance between your daylight/nightlight and outdoor/indoor footage.

Just that's I saw in the most footage shot on RED1 and didn't use fast lenses.

The faster and sharper your lens, the less the camera will have to rely on noisy ISO.

And you know that well too.

A lot of the noise you see in this preview is more due to weird Color behaviour than the shot themselves, but I am playing with the thought of making the night-sequence even more grainy and lowsat...

The idea is to make rather extreme "looks" for the different elements. It's not there, and the gammashift messes what's done up.

The beauty of being able to make no-blown, high-sat, sexy images with great detail in the darks with the RED, is amongst other things that I can choose not to, if I think that's a good idea :)

But as a general idea, I agree.

Thanks again!

Sanjin =

Can you develope your line of thought concerning the balance between daylight/nightlight and outdoor/indoor footage. I don`t hear too much discussion about this.

Dear Gunleik,

1st...Thank you for caring... ( You know what I am refering to ) ...It made a
differance...Its been some rough times...Now things are much better & I have
something worth talking about with you ( Concrete ) I will tell you more, Later/Soon.

2nd...My thoughts about this subject...I wonder if there is a philosophy or rule of thumb
for dealing with the Jump/Ratio from Int to Ext throughout the entire
Film/Composition and if there are certain rules about how the intervals of
Plus/Minus=Light/Darkness from scene to scene progress, This pattern.

3rd...Some of your work has really moved me and I consider to be deeply inspiring and
thought provoking other examples I feel almost an agressive responce towards
because I interpret it as a waste of your gift...But thats just me.

DogDay.

Some really nice images here. I thought the night shots looked good. The "flashlight lit" fantasy shots were the most striking images in the film.

And I thought the editing was a little messy and gimmicky.

Thin the voice over out, talk less. Let the images breath a little more. Worry less about image issues and more about flow and story issues. The cutting allows for surprises and that is good, but all that non-stop talk makes it a little un-relenting. Pace a little better

Very nice images and a lot of imagination. Clearly not shot in Kansas...

Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys

The latter comments pretty much reflects my own thoughts... :)
The length is about ok
The history is about there
But somethings needs to be compressed, other needs more air.
It's now just stumbeling along, while it needs to be more extreme, in all ways, and the surprises must hit harder (which sometimes means giving space, other times taking it away.)

Thanks for the help so far!

Hey there I really liked it. I was intrigued all the time, but thought the VO was a little to slapstick. I don't mind the accent, but IMO he's trying to sound funny at the same time and that puts me off a little.

Also think that you can "shorten" it a little, try a few kill your darlings. Last is Im not sure what you want your message to be with the crash sound design in the end, is it really necessary?

Some things that distract from the story are the post zooms, speedups etc. (And corresponding sound effects.) It's just too busy. Keep it simple.

I agree with weirdcrew that the voiceover is too silly. Get Brian Cox to read it.

I also agree that the sound effects in the last shot are... confusing.

Thanks a lot for all the help!

Really apprechiated!

I've removed the link, as I start finnishing the piece, but if anyone has any more input, I really appreachiate it!

Cheers
