what about this auction that ended yesterday?

no serial number, a camera with not a single accessory is unlikely, no serial number, 29 offers and secred bidders name, no chance to communicate with the winner, and finally no paypal protection... wow, what a smell.
I asked the seller, but had not answer.
Is there a page on Red.com or Reduser.net for reports of stolen cameras?
Anyway, I'd rather think this is just a plain simple scam auction than a real camera
:detective2:

There was one camera stolen in the first 1-100 range, before those were traded in for the 100X cameras (The first hundred cameras were switched with an improved design, free of charge by RED)

Sold at 5.150 Euros, it looks like a STEAL to me... I am to smart and very happy I wasn´t the "winning" bidder...

I bet the 41 positive feedbacks on this seller, were easily manufactured for the 5K Euro scam... I could be wrong.

If it sounds to good to be true - It probably is!

Well if it's real at least the camera body hasn't been compressed

It can't be one of the first 100 because it has the silver RED logo on the CF module. It couldn't have been updated to the 16GB module (which I am assuming all have the silver logo) if it was the stolen one because RED knows the serial number.

Did anyone email the seller to ask what the serial number was?

Sorry, just read that there was no response from the seller... bummer.

Jim

I asked for the serial number before the auction ended because there was no photo with the number on it. No answer! Seller was registered in 2008 over ebay US, camera sold over ebay Spain.

im glad you guys are asking the right questions when this happens.. good to see.

Kind of like Obsolescence Obsolete...

Obsolescence Obsolete is alive here...

1. Upgrade your sensor (RED ONE).
2. Get major consideration to upgrade to a better camera.
3. The better camera (EPIC) is clearly Obsolescence Obsolete (everything upgradeable).

What part of that is too good to be true? Or are you just pushing buttons again?

If the RED ONE was not the perfect "Obsolescence Obsolete" camera, it sure goes a long way towards it. And certainly the RED ONE customer is "Obsolescence Obsolete".

Actually, I decided to be inquisitive, and directly asked if it was either a stolen camera or a scam auciton... after all I is my right to dubitatate about such an auction, thinking that if he was really legal, then he would of course reply. I don't know if it was a good idea, anyway if I were him, I would have absolutely replied at a similar question, or any other question. I believe whoever he is, he may just be interested in getting the money and then become become vapour instantly, and not bother to answer.

What surprise me, it's the people accepting the game and bid. They should know what a Red is, and what it's price is, so... strange behaviour.
Of course if it was real, it would be an excellent buy, but it just can't be, or not worth the risk.

I love you

I think you would have to be a bit stupid to bid on such an item though. The description would have more relevant info plus if it was authentic the seller would have mentioned it on REDuser first i'm sure.

Still makes you want to plough the ground with the guys face...sorry that was a bit strong. I apologise.

there are a few stupid people out there...rest assured

you could probably put an epic on there and get a few bids
