Hi Everyone:

Just doing my part to help out with the credit crunch.

I am willing to rent my Red One Setup on weekly basis to legitimate business people, filmmakers and production companies at standard industry rental rates and split the payments out over 12 months. All renters must have decent credit and three references.

Perhaps this will help some of you that were counting on immediate shipping of Scarlet or that haven't been able to come up with the funds to take delivery of your own Red One.

Whether you rent out just the body or my entire setup for one week or one month, you will only need to pay 1/12 of the rental fee up-front and then the remaining balance in 12 equal payments over the next 12 months. You will need to provide a legitimate insurance certificate as with any other rental.

PM me if you are interested but act quickly. As of right now I only have one complete package and with these terms, it could get booked up fast.

P.S. I hadn't intended to rent out my Red One very often but my business expansion (check out i4hawaii dot com when you get a chance) is keeping me really busy right now and I just don't have as much time to use it myself. No point in it sitting locked up in my studio if someone can be making movies with it. :)

Hello Michael:

I am willing to match industry standard rates. The idea here is to enable someone to pay over time at no additional cost over industry standard rates. In other words, I would be willing to match a legitimate rental house quote for 30-day rental.

I have a great set of lenses. Kowa Cine Primes in BNCR and I have a BNCR mount for my RED one. I can rent with or without the lenses and can replace PL mount.

KOWA CINE
100mm - 1:2.3
75mm - 1:2
50mm - 1.2
40mm - 1:2
32mm - 1:2
20mm - 1:2

Similar to the ones shown here most likely:

Below is a recent referral:

Hi All-
I rented this package during the month of September for an indie feature film I was producing. Equipment work perfectly and everything that was promised for the rental fee was delivered 2 days after I sent in payment. If you need a RED camera, you won't find a better deal and a more trustworthy person to deal with.

Because you would have to pay in full at the time of rental, not over 12 months.

The deal here is not in the rental price, it's in the payment terms.

That's correct Jim. I feel that the primary problem our economy is facing is the serious constriction of credit and credit terms and the excessive interest rates in comparison to prime.

By extending 12 months terms at no interest, I am hoping to help someone complete a project that they would not otherwise be able to complete and then pay the "fair" rental fee over time instead of all up front.

Sure, there's risk on my side that I won't get paid, but that's why no one is lending to anyone else. That attitude of fear and selfishness will take our economy down if it doesn't stop. There are plenty of people and entities with money out there that can afford the losses they may incur if people don't pay. Unfortunately, even those people are trying to hold on to everything they have with both hands not realizing that attitude by itself can render everything they are holding on to completely worthless. Without the reasonable flow of credit and fair interest rates, dollars are worthless.

Isn't that what a credit card is for? Also- do you really want to become a credit lender and do all of the bookkeeping and tracking for 12 monthly payments for rental terms that are likely to be maybe a couple grand or less? That sounds like waaay more work than it's worth for you as the renter. It's a nice gesture and all but I'd rather be out shooting my camera than programming an Excel spreadsheet.

I think it's a great idea. People that are planning on saving for months till they can afford to shoot can act now. My guess is this innovative approach will pay off.

Credit card would have 15% interest, not free.

Why all the criticism? Let the guy offer his gear! :)

I think its a great idea. Especially if you are saving up for an Epic. When your Epic is ready to ship in 15 months, you will be receiving all your $$ just when you need it.... :greedy:

It will also help keep you from spending the money that you should be saving for the Epic. ..Hmm... I may just have to borrow this idea.

Another sign of the RED bubble. I think its a terrible idea when you consider all the things that could go wrong over a 12 month period.

Hi Andrae:

Of course it's a terrible idea for me. That's the whole point and the reason it is a great idea for someone short on working capital. I'm not doing this because I am desperate to rent my gear. I honestly don't even like renting my gear and don't need the money. I just don't like to see such a great setup sitting unused in my studio because I don't have enough time to use it. If I can make a little towards my future EPIC purchase and if I can help someone out in the process. That's worth it.

Remember what I said earlier, if people that have money don't stop holding on to it with both hands and start lending at fair interest rates to qualified borrowers, they may lose everything they are trying to protect.

Shooter-

Understood.

I would like to look into using your package as a second unit. I had another merchant on this site offer a more extensive package that I would like to use as a first unit set-up

Could you give my office a call on Monday or send me a direct email. I don't frequent this site often and I would like to have direct communication with you since we are making immediate plans now.

Best,

Michael
