Uk Order/NAB

Uk Order/NAB

Hi Phil,

I've got two RED's on order to work with my Ultraprimes. Glad I've got those. Planning to be out ther on the second week. Week 16th. Does that fit in with your dates?
All best, David H

Hi Chaps,

Anyone planning on going to NAB? It looks like I'm Billy no mates at the moment.

I've booked myself in The Orleans ($70/night) - they run shuttles close to the convention centre.

Let me know if you want to meet up while you are out there.

All the best, Phil

Hi David,

Yes it does.

I arrive in LV on Monday 16th in the afternoon.

I leave on Thursday morning 19th about 10am and head back to blighty.

I'll send you more contact details later. I'm just in the process of getting a new phone.

In a rush at the moment - I'll PM you later.

All the best, Phil

Hello Phil,
I've just joined the forum and am pondering a trip to NAB purely to see the camera. I'm in Bangkok at the moment but back in London very soon. Could I contact you soonish to chat about an RV? And any other UK people going to Nab? You seem to be one of the few, if not the only? Can't be ...

Sorry, I'm blind so I MUST be a cameraman; David H is going...anyone else?

I'm still tossing a coin on whether or not I can get to NAB at the moment as I've got alot of work on at the moment but some of the bookings are not yet time-confirmed so my schedules a bit mental as I know I'm working but not exactly when!

Though it would be nice to hook up with you guys after NAB for a drink and a chat so you can tell us what you think and maybe consider some kind working arangement/contact exchange for multiple cam 4k shoots in the UK!

Any thoughts?

I won't be going but I would be up for meeting up with those who have been when you get back.

I've got my nab entry stuff sat on my desk... I don't reckon I'll be able to go but I might take a look and see if there is a very very last minute flight going v cheap and jump on it if I feel like it. Like most, work is an issue.

Martin, JohnF and Dominic - should be able to meet up as you suggest after NAB. We could certainly discuss possibly working together?

Hoko, Stephen and Paul I really hope you can all make it - good luck with your planning etc.

I'm all booked up - so barring some unforseen incident I'll be there on Monday afternoon.

All the best, Phil

Hey guys,
I just posted this on "Off Topic" too but seeing as it relates to the UK this may be another place to post. The footage may not be RED originating but if it goes well who knows what the future holds.

OK so the score is that I have a friend who is a member of one of the U.K's biggest indie Techno groups. They have had singles in the past signed to Warner Music and have a huge following not just in the U.K but also Europe wide.

A while back I made a short clip, a fusion of techno music mixed with underwater imagery to come up with a product I labeled 'TechnOcean'. I posted that to the guys in the band and they liked the concept. Now me not being an editor per se, I shoot underwater and am pretty much a one man band when it comes to making small time DVD compilation products for sale within the recreational dive industry. I've had a few short films make finalist status in some of the bigger festivals but still I feel I am not 'quite there' yet.

Anyway, long story short is that the group are looking to release a new single aptly named 'Oceanic' (it also happens that two of the group are also divers and a lot of their work is tied with strong affinity to the Ocean) and they have asked me to look at potentially making a music video along the lines of my previous attempt albeit on a larger scale. A full blown official music video.

At this point in time I am looking to find someone who would, like me, be willing to put a bit of time into this on the editing side of things. Preferably someone with some music video editing prowess. I'm looking to supply all the footage and want to come up with something that if acceptable will be adopted as a projection piece for the track release. In the beginning this is being treated as a non commercial undertaking but will transform to a commercial deal if the band decide to adopt the final product.

If any, possible UK based, music editors with a penchant for the fast cut editing techniques used to accompany techno music related video's would be interested in getting involved please PM me for more info.

This is in the very infant stages at the moment and I would like to get feedback from others before going on with it.

Cheers,
Mark.
