  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

sony-wega-tv-is-piece-of-crap

Sony's reliability has gone down the toilet, and they've gotten meaner and meaner with Out-of-Warranty assistance.
If I need to clear my stomach contents and don't feel like sticking my finger down my throat, I only have to think of some of the absolute crap software that Sony bundle with their products. Their "Network Walkmans" (MP3 players in other words) can only be used with thier own propriatary software which simply won't run on a lot of PCs!
Or their garbage video editing software. Their sales blurb makes it sound like you can be turning out hollywood-quality DVds within hours of buying the camera! All you can do is really basic editing (if you can get the software to work at all) and all it will produce is VCDs (not DVDs). OR their DVD handycams that produce 3" DVDs that often wont play on anything but the f*cking camera, and/or can't be read or copied by most computer DVD drives!
Or if your three year old ultra expensive plasma TV dies, all they'll do is give you a fairly miserly discount on a new Sony TV!

The last time I bought a new Sony product was twelve years ago. I, too, have become disillusioned by their quality.

My Sony HD-42inch TV - 200 pounds... died just before 1 year warrenty expired. Tech came out replace $700 card on Warrenty. Next time it dies, I'm moving to Panasonic 50+ plasma.

I'm wondering if their new Bravia LCDs are as good as the TV spots...

Yes.

not great, but very good. Speaking for the leatest series.
Best picture quality for the price.
Only Phillips gives better picture but costs more.

The remote is another story. Cheep ass crap.

We've had a SXRD LCOS for about a year, no problems yet. Beautiful picture.
