Being the young, ignorant young filmmaker that I am, I accidentally shot some RED One footage at 24fps, instead of 23.97 or 29.97. I realize now that it was a mistake because I am having difficulty syncing up the audio in post. The footage also plays back very choppy, which could be a whole other problem in and of itself.

So, how do I convert 24fps to 23.97 or 29.97? And why does the footage look choppy, whether I play it in Quicktime or Final Cut Pro?

Thanks!

Hi Ricky,
On final cut open a 23.97 timeline import and drop the 24fps clip. If Final ask you if you want to adapt the frame rate clip to the timeline say yes. But do not adapt the timeline to the clip

Your best bet is to run it through Compressor and create a new piece of media. If you let FCP change the frame rate on the fly then the cadence might not always be the same. What happens if you open that in REDCine and change the frame rate there? I think that's possible.
