  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red 300mm front thread

You'll have a tough time putting a filter on the front of the 300mm. The original model (with the red ring and integrated support) did not have front threads that I can recall. The revised model, which matches the RPPs, does indeed have some threads on the front. However, those threads are non-standard and are a carry-over from the assembly process. The internal diameter is either 114mm or 112mm, I don't recall, but the thread spacing is not going to match up with any filters out there. Been down that road myself. Your best bet is to use the drop-in filter tray.

You mention a UV filter… Since those are mostly useless by all accounts, I'm assuming you're doing this to protect the front element.

Thanks Jeff, Brian, and Tim,

Sorry for the delay been on the road filming. Appreciate the great input and link to the other thread. I will go for a set of the B+W 43 mm filters recommended in the linked thread.

Tim hope you are well. Both lens have been working hard and doing a great job, thanks.
