Hi Guys,

just received another heart wrenching call from a first AC from a production I hired my camera out to. He says the camera stops working after a few seconds of rolling footage with the message: "data integrity error" and then the camera shuts down.
They rebooted the camera, reset the firmware to factory defaults and tried 3 different SSD mags but the error keeps popping up after several seconds sooner or later.
This is the second time I am having issues with my EPIC on a hire shoot now within 6 weeks. the camera just came back from RED after they had to replace an internal board 3 weeks ago.
Please someone tell me that this can be fixed with a firmware downgrade/upgrade or I am going to cry.

you reckon upgrade to beta instead of rolling back to a previous stable release luigi ?
Sending the camera in again ?? this is devastating, I have 3 music video bookings in the next 10 days alone, one of them with Jay-Z's old touring Dj...could not come at a worse time :/
When I sent my EPIC back to RED about 5 weeks ago to have fixed, wouldn't they have run a complete check up on the camera anyway ?

I'm sorry for you,
save the log + pictures and infos and send it immediately to RED ... is the best thing.
After a problem on the set, similar to your previous error, RED EUROPE replaced the camera (under warranty).
Now the new epic works perfectly (crossed fingers)

just finished shooting a video Rap than 2 days here in Locarno, used last relaise beta. Everything ok, the only problem I found that the battery does not give more time to charge only and solely the voltage. For the rest all right.
Obviously you have to abiturati the new screen relaise 5.

Well try not cost you anything.

aww I miss Locarno Luigi, i didnt make it there this summer :/
Still waiting for the camera to arrive back from set, as soon as its here I save a log and contact RED support, fingers crossed.

ahah Locarno Locarno ahah

will you save log and installs new firmware, before you do a hard reset to 30 seconds;)
good luck friend.

With the 4.0.18 I had strange issues and glitches (almost every day).
Now I use the 5.1.26 - zero problems at the time...
Definitely better than the last stable release (in my experience).

and now the camera is ignoring the record button completely...wether I press the button on the DSM side handle or the record button on the front...It simply wont record anymore....everything else works fine...I can go into all the sub menus, change configurations.

strangely enough the file naming of the SSDS, when connected to a computer via card reader is off....when I downgraded to 4.0.12, the SSD mag showed up starting with the letter H....and now it just shows up as SSD....without any red file naming or anything.

Can you save the log for the RED Technicians?
Your epic in under warranty? Maybe RED support can definitively replace your camera.

shiiiiitttttttt; so sorry for that; this should definitely not happen, ever; this scared the shit out of me, man; Red needs to send replacement cam immediately IMO and ASAP, especially since it was with them for repair such a short time ago.

thats what frustrates em too oliver :/ it happened out of nowhere...the last two days on the shoot no problems, even this morning was fine and then BAM after lunch break the error messages popped up :/

Dom, you have tried new beta firmware?
