Anybody used this lens at all? More importantly anyone have anything shot on RED with it. Still images look great on it. But cant find any moving images. Anything would be really helpful

We have 2 of those, we are shooting in 3D and we also have two of the 300-800mm Sigma used in 3D and they are good lenses. I used them extensively for yrs. I used them with the Scarlet and Epic.

This video here: http://red.3dmovies.com/epic-sigma-300-800mm-800mm-4k-video_e11da30ad.html

I shot it 3D with 2 Sigmas and the Epics, is not as good as I wanted it but for the money spent is ok.

I'll be happy to answer anything.

by the way if anyone wants, pls free to upload any red footage there.

The moon plays fast in res 4k, I have many others

The world is as you see it.

I have the 70-200mm, they are different lenses all together. For low light the 70-100 is better but the Sigma has a coating that is very Very attractive to me. The pics I get from it remind me of the Fuji Velvia taken with a hassy underexposed at 40 asa from 50...

I'm using the pre-Sport OS version, and am pretty happy with it. Corner sharpness and even illumination suffer a bit when wide open, but it's a pretty solid performer all around. It works very well with a 1.4X extender, and is pretty solid with a 2X extender when stopped down to around f/11. The Sport version looks moderately sharper in the tests on The Digital Image, so it's probably worth taking a look at it.

On the RED Nikon mount, aperture control and focus confirm work fine, but AF and OS do not as of build 4.0.18

Here are some untouched 100% crops off a D800 from today with a 2X extender on at f/11

Edit: it looks like the forums engine re-compresses files you upload. Here are the originals:

I purchased the newest version "S" a couple of days ago.. I was happy with tne former version, although it proved a bit questionable wide open. But the new S version is a miracle of a lens. Incredibly sharp even wide open, wonderfully bulit. Even a 2Xconverter works perfectly. Bokeh is very good for a zoom lens. As a sport or a wildlife lens, it is an absolute must have

Has anybody looked into having this lens rehoused in a pl mount? This would be amazing to have.

It seems like Nan is rehousing a number of different sigma lenses.

The rehoused version by GL optics is nearly finished. I'll shoot some tests with it soon.

Unfortunately, it's a rehouse of the "old" version, since the new one has an optical image stabilization which makes it extremely difficult to rehouse.

That would still be very intersting. Would love to see a small review like the one with the last lens. Thanks

Will the IS be functional on the rehouse? Too late for me. I've gone and bought the vanilla version assuming the IS would work. Bit of a disaster really as I need the stabiliser.

Any preliminary indication of weight on new GL 120mm-300mm 2.8?

The IS wont work on the rehoused lens. Right now the problem is that it's very difficult to rehouse lenses with IS, since you need to fix the floating lens element.

I'll ask Nan about the weight, but it'll be quite heavy, given that it's a rather huge lens.
