My R3D files having these blue pixels that riddle the footage when I'm editing them in FCPX. I've been trying to remedy the problem for weeks now. Has anyone encountered this before? Know how to fix it?

I contacted RED about it and didn't seem to be much help. Looking to contact Final Cut (Apple) but haven't found a direct contact link so if anyone has it, that would be helpful as well.

Nope, no plug-ins. I'll check out the discussions, thanks for the responses!

I haven't had this particular problem with FCPX, but I do have several other bugs that creep into the mix during an edit. The work around that fixes all of the ones I encountered so far is this:
Close FCPX
Run a repair permissions
Shutdown the machine (shut down, not re start)
Have a cup of tea, and a biscuit
Re boot
Open up FCPX
Delete all project render files - there is a drop down menu item / radio button, almost like they knew this would be a problem...
Re-render the project
All should be fine...

I get random 'Blank / Black' frames in the timeline (that carried into the final output) that this method fixes every time. No clue why this works, or how I stumbled onto these particular steps - but it was a very frustrating day of a looming deadline.

Hope this helps

Render files, permissions files... All manner of files can become corrupt. (Do you remember when FCP preference file corruption was fairly common?) It is the nature of computing systems I think. Read/write operations can be interrupted for a variety of reasons. It happens on occasion and is well known so yes, they are aware of it. This has been my experience since v.1. It is not unique to working with Red files and when it happens the signs and symptoms vary.

I should have said that I typed this with my snarky face on.

:-) yea, I kinda figured but responded with my trouble shooting face on... Just for clarity's sake. You know how it is. Maybe it is habit for me.

I have the same problem with blue noise in my .R3D's

It's a mystery.

It happens on my MacBook Air in FCP X.

It does not happen on my Macbook Air in RedCine-X.

It does not happen on my iMac in FCP X or RedCine-X.
