The red onemx manual jumpes over alot ..what is the best to shoot in for tv...4khd...4k16x9 thanks and explain difference

4kHD is a direct factor (x4) of 1080x1920 = 2160x3840, exactly four times the resolution of 1080p. While 4k 16x9 simply has the same aspect ratio of 1080p, but exceeds 4000 pixels in width.

The HD just denotes some easy to use factor or multiplier of 1080p 16x9, such as x2, x2.5, x3, x4, x5, etc etc, which is generally easy to scale or process.

4KHD is unique to the R1, I believe, and that is what we shoot for 1080 broadcast delivery since it is, as Shiblon mentioned, 1x1 aspect ratio with 1080- whereas 16:9 and 2:1 are wider, so you will need to plan for cropping or be okay with letter boxing when conforming down to 1080 if you use these.

Epic and Scarlet both offer HD in all resolutions 1KHD(720p), 2kHD(1080p), 3kHD, 4kHD and 5kHD.

So you can shoot 4k 16:9 now? Or do you mean quad hd?

I don't see a separate 4K16x9 option on the new build. That would be covered by 4KHD (*3840 x 2160), as always.

4KHD, 5KHD, any of the settings with HD will work best as they scale easier to 1920x1080 without introducing unnecessary pixel math that odd aspect ratios will require. UHD specs are 3840x2160 for 4K so 4KHD on camera is an exact fit 5KHD will work best for oversampling.

It matters less if you are cropping in on the frame and using the "odd" aspect ratios for pan&scan or look around during an edit.
