First question- why selling? I was just offered another anamorphic lens set privately that I would like to purchase, but I have to move quickly so need to raise cash fast
Cineovision anamorphic set, 35, 50 and 85mm. All T1.4, however they really become usable at a T2. Fast for anamorphics never the less. Several sources have told me that Cineovision used Zeiss optical cores, and the bent glass was made in Japan. Barrels do say "Made In USA." I was also told that the Zeiss cores were still lens cores, not B speeds. The lenses definitely cover 5K and I'm curious how they will do with 6K. They are in dual PL/ BNCR mount. They have matching serial numbers.
35mm, cf 2', front is 130mm, weight @8 lbs
50mm, cf 2.25', front is 95mm weight @5 lbs
85mm, cf 3.75, front is 104mm weight @7.25 lbs
Optically they are in good shape for their vintage. You can review material shot with them on my reel- https://vimeo.com/63985200 The Nicktoons show Alien Dawn was shot with these lenses- that was a 9 month shoot. Also a few shots from a soon to be released movie shot in the Dominican Republic was shot with these lenses (and a Lomo zoom) are on the reel. The music videos were shot with Lomo anamorphics. There is evidence of some haze in the anamorphic elements due to the age. Aesthetically I don't find that to be all that bad with digital cinema. Cosmetically these are 40 year old lenses that have been working. Please see photos.
Currently the 50mm is getting serviced at Super 16, Inc. The 35 and 85 are here in NJ. Pelican cases are included.
Asking $19,500 for the set. Cash or bank wire. Deposit on CC possible via Paypal.
