I got a note that the ASC Manual 10th edition was released, has anyone looked at it ... is it worth the upgrade to the new edition? From a book brief it looks like a major update from the 9th edition (9th edition had really had fallen behind the times, so I don't want to get the 10th edition unless it is a major update). In the past the ASC manuals were a treasure trove of information, so i'm crossing my fingers on this one. http://www.ascmag.com/store/product.php?productid=16678&cat=258&page=1

Mine arrived last week, haven't had a spare minute to look at it yet though.
Cool, nice to know they are shipping ... I just bought volume 1 and 2 on Amazon(wasn't obvious to find it, since in the amazon listing it looks like a older version till you look at the product details ... no reviews on amazon btw). They are a bit cheaper on the ASC website if your not shipping it far.

The paperback version comes in two volumes, and the hardcover is one volume. Do you know what is in the two volumes? In other words, how do they separate out the topics?

I just got mine, volume one is more of a normal book with chapters; volume 2 is formula's and charts. I think this version is a mandatory purchase, is a major sea change from the previous version (my opinion at least). Given that it is a major change, I think it's something people will want to carry around, and will find having the two volume paper back more practical as a reference then getting the one volume hardback(is over 1600 pages total). Has a good article by David Mullen, and a bunch of other articles that I'd think almost everyone will learn something from (from 30 year veterans to total newbs). There is just a lot of useful stuff in the latest ASC manual, it really leaves no doubt that the transition to digital has occurred and shows that the ASC is really "getting it".

Just an fyi--I got the hardcover today. Unfortunately the hardcover printed earlier than the paperbacks & e-books. It comes with a small booklet indicating errors in the hardcover & the corrections. It says these errors are not in the 2 volume paperback. I already have the last 3 editions but this is still a must-have due to todays ever changing technology. I am glad the ASC strives to keep the 'bible" as accurate as possible.

Got mine and I have to say there are some gems, but overall, it's somewhat of a disappointment. Lots of filler, e.g. reprinting camera specs.

If I didn't have so much respect for the ASC and was willing to be a PITA, I'd try to get a refund. But it's not worth the time and aggravation to either me or them. I'm sure I will find some of the info. very useful, but it reads more like a thrown together compendium than the "Bible" it's touted to be.

I have not read any of them, do you suggest an edition that is, in your opinion, the best edition?

Yes there is. i read a preview on my ipad! But i still prefer a paper version.

Sorry, I just noticed this. I really can't recommend a best edition. And I do think that there is valuable information. But printing out camera manuals/specs felt like a waste of space.
