Just wondering if anyone had any reviews of this lens. I searched everywhere but did not find any reviews at all.
Want to know more about vignetting, colour, contrast, sharpness, breathing, etc.

It seems to be a great lens
Its not that big, not too heavy, and has a great range from wide to somewhat telephoto.

You could also try to ask Matt Duclos... He would be my first choice to ask...

I used this lens on my epic to shoot some green screen and plates.

Truly a great lens, a nice clean character without being too harsh.

It has the fujinon look - I would call it magically real. I like it better than the cheaper Angenieuxs, and to be honest more than the workhorse Angenieux 24-290, but sometimes you need that reach in a hurry, right?

We rented it from Abel Cine in LA if memory serves me right. I want to rent the 15-40 and 30-80 version as well.

Extremely sharp. Excellent ergonomics. Lighter and more compact than the 4.7x Optimo. At T2.6 matches exactly with the 45-250. Breathes less than Ultra Primes.

Taken together (18-80 + 45-250) they are the ideal two lens combo for episodic TV and/or Movies of the Week. In other words, you can work 2 cameras extremely efficiently with these two lenses. Also of note -- you can shoot them both with a normal (i.e. 4x5.65) clip on matte box (143mm if I recall correctly). A nice way to focus on imagery rather than gear...

We've had an Alura in rental inventory since late 2010. It's a lot of lens for the money, with a great range. Good MOD, no ramping, nice feel--can do manual zooms other than slow creeps. It's a pleasure to pull focus with. Vignetting is pretty typical, some distortion. Obviously, at 10lbs., not a great choice for hand held. The lens had performed very well for us, but many clients prefer smaller, lighter lenses, even if it means two lenses to cover the same range.
