  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Camera That Chamged The World ( BBC Doco)

That is absolutely brilliant! Just watched the whole thing start to finish, what an amazing piece.

Thanks so much for turning us onto it.

Thanks Jochen ... really great piece on the birth of hand-held documentary filmmaking ... superb content and very well made doc in its own right ... it's kind of amazing to think what they had to go through back then compared to what we take for granted now in terms of portability and image quality ... we're making a mini documentary down at Del Mar race track this summer ... we think nothing of carrying around a 5K EPIC on a tripod plus some 7Ds plus putting a couple of GoPro Hero3 BEs on a jockey's helmet and filming man and horse racing around the track at 30 mph at 120 fps ... and then coming back to the Lab and editing everything on a rdMBP running FCP X ... fifty years of technological innovation gone by in the wink of an eye!

Cheers,
Neil

So many of these guys are clients and friends of AbelCine. It's one of the great perks about working here. Albert Maysles was in last month to buy a new camera -- at 87 years old! You go dude! These doc guys were the reason for the birth of AbelCine and it's great to look back at these old docs and see names of guys who are still our clients. I was watching Woodstock a few weeks ago and saw Don Lenzer's name in the credits. I'd forgotten he was one of the cameramen on it, and I had been on the phone with him that morning.

For everyone who watched this doc, I can tell you that JP of Aaton was not putting on an act for the camera. That is EXACTLY what he's like, down to the twinkle in his eye.

Thanks
