Okay,

If I have to follow focus with one more DSLR prime lens I'm going to pull my hair out. I need advice on a good set of primes from 14mm up to 135mm or so. A macro would be nice but not a deal breaker.

Speed of 1.9 or less.

I'm not rich but I want this to be my last purchase of lens of this type. Try for around $35K or less.. In that neighborhood.

Any advice from the brain trust?

Jay

Wont happen in the next weeks, so you shouldn't be in a hurry, but you might want to check out the thread about a group buy of rehoused Leica (or Nikon AIS) lenses. I'm also in talks with a lens manufacturer who's developing a completely new set of anamorphic lenses.

An other option is the group buy of the GL optics Sigma 18-35 (will send you a password for both by pm). They also offer a rehoused Tokina 11-16 mk2.

I'm also in contact with Schneider Kreuznach about doing a group buy of their new Cine Xenon set (25,35,50,75,100) wit an 18 coming late next year and / or a group buy of their Xenar mk2.

If you need to get a set now, I would recommend you Van Diemen's rehoused Leica lenses. They are all new lenses, just the optical block comes from Leica. Otherwise the Schneider Xenar mk2 and mk3 (optically the same, but the mechanics on the mk3 are much better) are great. Or have a look at the Cooke S4 mini / Panchros.

David you're a wealth of good info & good will...
