  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shot on Scarlet / Canon 24-70 L

Great job! Really dig that location with the stairwell

Thank you. The stairwell location was Sheffield town hall (UK), and the interior room was mansion house, York (UK). It was Scarlet, 4kHD with a post crop. Shot on a Canon 24-70L mostly wide open. Interior lights were springballs and kinos (blue backlight in the hallway was an ARRI 650 junior, with a blue effects gel), and the search lights were 1.2 and 2.5 HMIs. And there were many favours used...

Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind me asking, but why did you pick the 24-70mm zoom, was it the second version also? Did you find is soft at all, specially wide open?

Purely cost - this was shot on an incredibly low budget, and I happen to own that lens. Its not great (its a v1) but the alternative that I had was a set of slower Nikon primes, which show more distortion. If money had been no object it would have been on anamorphics, or at least cine glass.

Actually I have used the Panasonic 7200 anamorphic adaptor with the 24-70 on one job (in that case I was shooting to a Canon 60D - there are some excerpts on my web site) but its quite a faff with diopters, and wouldn't have worked with the time we had available. All of the stairwell, for example, was shot in about 2 hours, plus evacuation time (the location had told us the smoke alarm was turned off for the hazer - but it wasn't).
