Just wondering... can anyone shed any light on when or if we will ever see more Nikon lenses supported on the Epic please...

Very serious. This was a cornerstone of my Epic plan, still waiting for any movement from Red. Information please!

This issue was raised again today in another thread. It's disappointing that no one from Red responded to this. Even more disappointing that only Sean added a comment. Does no one else use the Nikon Mount? Perhaps whoever does only uses one lens. Given the voices cryiing oput for it before it appeared I find it strange that there is so little comment on the poor support for nikon lenses.
It really would be good to get some sort of response from Red about lens support for the nikon mount. If there are difficulties in getting lenses to work with this mount please just say so. I know a lot of work went into getting the mount to work in the first place so seems such a shame that it appears to have been left in the wilderness now...

Thank you for this thread!

I sent a support issue a couple weeks ago and no answer. I have many Nikon lenses that fall short of the focus and extreme slow to not on target aperture!

When I focus manually and turn the AF on it short focuses! I have not been able to use AF with many lenses with the Red Nikon Titanium mount.

I wish Red would also update all of us. This is my first negative with red since our original R1 in 2007?? They have always been responsive, except this time.

Also a nikon user but most of the lenses I am using on my Epic are older manual glass. I do have some work coming up that AF would be a help. So some response from Red would be appreciated.

I am a Nikon mount user and have conformed and purchased the three Nikon zooms and the 50mm F1.4
they all work flawlessly in the auto focus single mode. I started the thread about the new Tokina 11-16 markII which should work in auto on the Nikon mount but doesn't . RED doesn't seem interested in putting in the work to get this lens working

I also use the nikon mount, but most of my lenses are manual zeiss lenses, except the tokina 11-16, I want to buy nikon lenses but the lack of support scares me.

+1

I think I have posted on this last December, but the development regarding more lenses seems to have been stopped.

I dont expect AF on some of my rare beauties like the 135mm, but I'd really like to be able to use my workhorses like the 17-35.

Come on, RED. Jim must have all of those.

I may be wrong on this but it seems that there have not been any nikon lenses added to the original very short list that was posted over a year ago when the mount first became available. Is adding a wider range of nikon fit lenses to the working list so far on the back-burner that it has fallen by the wayside? The nikon mount was for me an expensive way to have a wider range of lenses available but it seems like it may have been money down the drain. We would have all been better investing in a canon mount and new canon lenses. And If I had known then what has transpired so far with the Nikon mount it would have been the route I would have taken. I reiterate - what is really disappointing is not a single word from Red so far about this issue.

I guess I've been lucky, all my lenses have worked (other than the 50 1.2 needing a modification mentioned earlier), though admittedly I don't use the autofocus much (aperture control at least seems to be working ok on the AF-S lenses):

I'm pretty sure I know the answer but would like confirmation that non-characterized G lenses still work on this mount, as well as F mount manual lenses?

Elise,

Thank you for your insight!

I have several Nikon G Lensses and at least mine do not focus or close to it. I am not talking hyperfocus, plain old out of focus with AF. If I select F8 it slowly makes its way to maybe F10 from 22, or 5.6 from 2.8?

I also tried probably 18 Nikon lenses.

I don't know if this is what you wanted?

Thanks again,

Kennan Ward

Thanks Kennan, very helpful.

I shot with the 135 f2 this weekend. I just got my scarlet on Friday and never shot with a red. I want sure to expect
With and older D lens but with the aperture locked it worked and auto focused and allowed be change the aperture on the scarlet
itself. The autofocus was definately slow so I switched it to manuel focus. But I also don't know the camera well and jumped into
a wedding the day after I got it :), further more I am a Nikon shooter and have all of the main pro lenses. I'm also a NPS member
so if anyone wants me to test out any lenses feel free to pm me.

Hi Joshua, thanks for the post. Slow focussing response (and often missing the focus point) is a common observation on lenses not on the REd Nikon list. I think you will get a similar response from your other lenses - if they work at all. Obviously this makes auto focus for most Nikon lenses unusable. In some cases I have had iris control - though that too is sometimes slow - but it does mean the lenses are usable in certain circumstances. I just wish Red would offer some sort of response to this thread...
