Hey there,
I'm intersted in buying an optical viewfinder for the SI 2K, build by P&S. Any offers are welcome.

Thank you all.

Feyco. Have you enquired with Anna at P+S for a new item or are you after a used item only. P+S may still have the optical finders. Do you intend using the optical finder on a SI2K or are you going to try it on a RED One camera which has been fitted with the P+S IMS-Mount kit and shoot in cropped sensor mode at 2K or 1920x1080. The optical viewfinder is only for B4-Mount HDTV/SDTV lenses normally used on 2/3" three-sensor type cameras which use a prism. It does not work with other lens types. The rear of the viewfinder mounts to IMS only, not PL-Mount. The Epic/Scarlet camera body design makes it impossible to fit the P+S IMS-Mount, therefore it will not be possible to use the optical viewfinder on either Epic or Scarlet cameras.

Hey robert,
yes i asked them if they still have some available, but unfortunetly the don't. But I don't want to use it for the redone or epic and I know that due to the beamsplitter technic its only usable for b4 lenses, right?

You are correct about the "beamsplitter technic". The IMS-B4 mount itself suits only 1920 x 1080 sensor crop on the SI2K. Most B4 ENG lenses work fine at 2048 x 1156 but will vignette at wide and again in the region 25mm - 35mm as the lens is zoomed in. The optical viewfinder uses a large piece of optical glass to make the image correct for the SI2K single CMOS sensor. This optical piece allowed opportunity to place a beamsplitter in the optical path. My regret is P+S did not build an optical viewfinder for the PL-Mount. It would not have been easy to do. P+S discovered that people would not pay the real cost of the viewfinder and eventually sold down their inventory at deeply discounted prices. They likely would lose money on a B4-Mount optical viewfinder.
