Wait, this comes free with both the purchase of an Epic and the upgrade from Scarlet to Epic, doesn't it?

No, I was just curious as to why you'd attempt to charge people for something you got for free...

You're right, though, that not everyone can afford to buy another Epic/Scarlet just to snag a case, but you do need storage solutions for more than just a camera body, which is why RED, CinemaOxide, and other sell cases to fit a number of accessories:

$100 to lug around a brain (and additional $$ to snag another case for everything else), or $300 to carry it all together?

To DJ's defense...

I am traveling and living part of the time in Asia. My original packing is in the USA. I am really glad I was able to buy a case like this from a fellow RedUser last year. For one, I am about to ship my scarlet in for RMA and can rest comfortably knowing it is traveling safely in a case made for it. (Except for "Epic-X" etched into the side!) I foresaw an event like this and thus prepared by snagging one from someone who did not want it. I only wish I would have bought it this cheaply...

Different strokes, folks.

Honestly, anyone can sell anything they want. Regardless if it came to your hands for free, or not. And since he bought a camera, he did pay for it. The price for the case is built in the price for the brain. RED is not giving anything away...
lighten up Brendan.

Brendan- Redusers who engage in "thread crapping" are subject to banning. Please read post #2 of the Marketplace policy: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showth...place-Policy&p=1100520&viewfull=1#post1100520

What you're doing is inconsiderate and is a waste of everybody's time and efforts, including your own. Your logic is completely flawed, as has been pointed out by the fine gentlemen who responded to you. If you cannot control yourself, I will gladly refer you to the mods.

For those of you who have PMed me about photos of the actual case, here are a couple I took earlier today. No blemishes. No signs of use other than a little dust from sitting on the shelf.

This began with a simple question to find out if it already came to you for free, or if you purchased it and are reselling it.

I'm sorry if my inquiry was misconstrued for "thread crapping" - I've just never known anyone to sell something they've received free-of-charge, but apparently it's very common. Again, something I've never experienced here in Chicago (yet), but now I know...

Thank you everyone for clarifying, though - best of luck in finding a home for this, bud.

The same exact case costs $295 in the RED store. $100 should be considered a great discount. I bought one of these cases last year off of ebay just to carry around loose RED gear around in. Would consider buying another just to carry around a couple of lenses in when I don't want to carry around a heavier pelican.

Son, there are three things you still don't seem to understand: #1 The case wasn't free. I paid for it. #2 Economics. #3 You are a textbook thread-crapper.

Brendan,

A link has been posted showing the retail value of the case. He is selling this case at a great discount. Is it true that it comes with every Epic sold? Almost. It does not come with the Epic-M Kit I believe, since I believe that ships in the Pelican 1510 custom case. It also does not come with any Scarlet.

So for all those Epic-M Kit owners, or anybody who bought a Scarlet, be it a kit, body only, etc... they might need a case where they keep a spare body, ship it to somebody who is renting it, or shipping it back to RED for service. This is a great deal. So what if he happened to get it with his Epic.. Its not a free case... and you seem to think he should just put it up on Reduser and say "Hey I got this for free, first come first serve" Unfortunately thats not how it works.

DJ is trying to sell something that he has every right to sell, so please leave him alone.

Now for a comment on the case... For anybody who does not have one but finds the need to have a case just for the body for any reason... I love mine, I think its a great case to transport the Epic, (or Scarlet) or to ship it out for any reason... You know that when your camera is in the case its super safe. (On a few occasions I put my Epic in it, then in a Larger Pelican with some additional accessories)

Brendan, whether it was your intention or not, the inferred tone due to your wording was not all that nice. Somewhat accusing. And to answer your question, not everyone gets the case for free. Many of us bought and received Epic cameras before that case even existed. It came free as part of most Stage-II and all of Stage-III upgrades. It comes as part of most of the pre-configured kit options they sell. If you just buy a brain alone or a brain plus a single accessory, or even put together a non pre-configured camera kit, the cease isn't included. RED sells the case alone in their store for $295. Those who did get an EPIC-X case for "free" had to spend upwards of $21K to get it... No foul here on DJ's part.

As others have pointed out, people can sell their stuff for whatever reason and for whatever price they feel like asking for. If you're not interested, move along or if you have issues inquire privately so as not to clutter a public thread. I'd take this post private, but this thread is already blown to pieces and it may as well serve as the occasional public reminder that seems necessary around here. No matter your intent, what you initial post was indeed "thread crapping".

I'm either just too lazy at this point or feeling generous, not sure which... Most the time when people do this, they get a one week free vacation from their forum account.
