Glitches on Frames?

I shot a music video the other day, got a couple of dud frames showing glitches. They are only visible when previewing at full resolution in After Effects, using 1/4 res does not show a problem. These glitches are making it through to the final output files so I don't think it's a previewing problem. Not running the latest firmware but it's only one version behind I think. Any ideas?

I saw this corruption due to a bad transfer. A few frames corrupted, while the original media on the Red Mags was fine. In my instance, it was a transfer issue.

Do you have the original SSD's? If so, it might be useful to see if it's a transfer issue (as Brant said) or is something else.

Try the SSD's in camera too (in camera playback).

Good you have the SSD's as you can now do some checking :)

I had this type of corruption a while back. I had to send the camera in to RED for repairs. Fortunately it was still under warranty at the time. I would suggest that if you see these in playback on the camera you contact your rep and send sample frames in for analysis.

I had the same problem, running the same firmware as you. Updated, black shaded and so far haven't seen any glitches. I remember it being way worse when shooting with high frame rates. I hope this fixes your problem, cheers.

Funny,my issue was more pronounced at lower speeds. At 23.98 it was rare. I never saw it at 30 and above. It happened maybe one time on every 3- 64 gig Mags. At 1-12 fps it was 1 to 3 times per mag and frequently a couple of times on the same shot separated by several frames. Often the rest of the shots on the mag were fine. The frequency increased a bit over time and parts were replaced to fix the issue so I advise having it checked out by RED.

I was just about to post the same issue, which I hadn't seen before today. I feared it was because this was the first time I was doing a take longer than 60 seconds (was 5 minutes @ 24fps).
I then updated the firmware (I was at 3.3.14) to 4.0.12 and did another 5 min shot. So far so good... (knock on wood).

In the 5 minute take, it seemed it was mostly toward the end of the take ( in the last of the 5 minutes).

Based on what some of you report, I guess I'll have to do some tests with various frame rates.
Still causing a mini-heart attack. :(
I wiped the SSD since my first gut reaction was to update the firmware (finally). Ergo, I can't see if it's a transfer issue or not.

I do have some frame grabs... but RC-X crashed 9 out of 10 times when looking at that particular footage (something else I haven't seen happen before).

Lots of people with the same issue. I think Red should pronounce about this glitches. I had no problem taking care of this in post but thats the kind of stuff that make clients want you to shoot with Alexa. Don't take me wrong, Im a Red guy, just wanna know whats going on.

I've had this on both mains and battery power, although not with the current firmware. On one instance I know the error was baked on the card, but there were also a couple that were definitely transfer related as camera playback was fine. I know slower external drives were used on one of these transfer errors, and it could have been a contributing factor.

What you could try before giving up, is using red undead for the xfer.

But when that has been the case, the SSD, not the camera has been the issue...

As posted before... so far only had this issue once. And since I have upgraded to the latest firmware. Haven't seen the issue since.
RED is currently investigating my camera's LOG file.
In my case It was either a bug that now appears to be fixed. Or a transfer error.

Interestingly enough when it happened I was using the same firmware as Dylan Macleod, CSC was... 3.3.14

have this issue on some clips from a particular shoot but only if i use redrocket to output it. when I switch to cpu it doesn't happen
