I have an old zeiss contax 35-70 that I cant get to zoom.... Am I having a moment or do they lock up?

is it a push/pull zoom? still yet to get my hands on one

Yes the 35-70cz is push pull. One of my favorite all time lenses. I've heard issues with this before, try posting in the contax survival thread for some help

Mestizo, it would appear that your copy is stuck. The 35-70 has a macro function at 35mm (which if engaged, could have explained your symptoms), but if you are stuck at 70mm....then we can discount that possibility.

I recommend sending the zoom to a lens tech. Try Peter at RP lens.

Hi Mestivo,

I actually had what "may be" this problem as when I first got my 35-70 it appeared to be stuck too. Thought it was just me as it just came good after I had fiddled with it quite a lot and never a prob since. I'm always so hesitant to force anything, especially something new, but mine just needed to rotate before it would push pull as it was just kind of vacuumed in place. Maybe the way it was cleaned, I don't know.... Anyhow, just went and played and tried to recreate getting it stuck, but nothing...

Good luck mate, (Be interested out of curiosity to hear how you get on)

I ended up having to tear it down all the way and clean it out, the culprit was a loose screw in the push pull/zoom area. She zooms now...
