I feel a bit dumb asking this, but is there a way of assigning a soft key so that a particular operation can be accessed with one press. What I am looking to do is to be able to switch from a custom monitor display to the red standard display in one go and back again.

I know I can achieve this via settings>display>monitor etc... but for ease and speed I need to know how to in effect create a macro so a soft key points to a particular setting.

And while we are about it - is there any way to have an on screen display reminding me that I have the fan toggled to off. When on set and we need to listen out for extraneous noise the first thing we do is to switch the fan off - sometimes we forget to turn it back on and then during a take it kicks in - other scenarios include late turnover in a 2 camera situation where we need the fan off from the beginning of a take ( then again forget to turn it back on after cut!) If not, can that be a feature request please Red?

If I remember correctly somebody at RED said you could do this with settings presets and a toggle. I don't know if I remember correctly or even how to do it, but hopefully somebody will chime in soon and let us know, or that will spark your memory enough to figure it out.. I might have time to play around with the settings tomorrow and see if I can figure it out for you as well.

The best you can do is create a custom preset that contains only the parameter for the monitor display setting you want. then you can assign any key to "apply preset xxxx". Seems like you will need two presets- one that contains the custom display and one that contains the standard. Remember, a preset can contain as few parameters as you like. FOr one project I made presets for various frame rates and applied them to the side handle keys so that I could very quickly change to predertmined frame rates while running and gunning handheld.
